
Continuing the Lucha theme, simply returning to semi-modern times. Octagon is often confused for Great Sasuke, though Octagon was using the attire a year or two before Sasuke. Originally known as La Amenaza Elegante in 1981, Octagon found little success, at first. However, that turned around in 1989, when the Octagon character was created, and he found himself signed to Consejo Mundial Lucha Libre. There, he became quite popular with the fans, especially the young ones, as he combined a traditional Lucha Libre style with his martial arts experience. Octagon won his first belt, the Mexican National Middleweight Title, in 1991. He quickly formed a tag team with Atlantis, and the duo won the Mexican National Trios Titles with Atlantis and Mascara Dorada. It was around this time that both Octagon and Atlantis began appearing in motion pictures. Back in the ring, things were a bit hectic. Antonio Pena had split from CMLL to form Asistencia Asesoria Administracion. Strong feelings of loyalty to Pena due to his creation of the Octagon character compelled him to follow Pena to the new organization. There, he formed a legendary tag team alongside El Hijo del Santo. After working together in a six man tag at the first Triplemania event, Octagon and Santo entered into their most famous feud to date. The duo defeated the newly formed Los Gringos Locos of Eddie Guerrero and Art Barr. Octagon and Santo were triumphant, and became the first AAA Tag Team Champions, in the process. The <b>...</b>
