Belgium's ZBS Studio reached out to Mello Muisc Group about permission to do a video for Oddisee's "The Blooming". MMG of course was honored to have them interpret the song and apply their vision to the track. The resulting marriage of visual storytelling & instrumental perfection is a narrative work that tells the story of time's passage in the life of a boy. The video was directed, shot, & edited by Tomasz Cibulla and Wojciech Drożdż of ZBS Studios in Belgium. Filled with rich landscapes from Belgium's countryside, smokey ambers, old typewriters, watches, clocks, and a father and son, The Blooming portrays life's unfolding through the metaphor of time. Oddisee's original track was last springs soundtrack to the rains and blooming growth of nature. Rich strings, bold piano, wood block, synth, flute, and snares that rest easy in the backdrop drive this instrumental track from Odd Seasons. It is rare these days to hear all of your favorite local emcees on a single track collaborating with each other. The track "Clock's Ticking" and its accompanying music video provide a rare opportunity to do that with, in this case, some of Washington DC's finest. The track provides a window into the diversity of the hip hop scene in DC. With DC legend Raheem Devaughn holding down the chorus and local producer Choppy Choppe on the beat, the track celebrates the game of Chess in honor of local community arts organization Words, Beats & Life's annual Bumrush the Boards Chess Tournament. The song's title is a reference to the concept of "beating the clock", a style of chess play in which opposing players are challenged between moves by a time clock. The collaboration was organized by DJ RBI (Ill Street Grooves/Diamond Cutterz) with assistance from Theory (PKG), and features Raheem Devaughn, yU, Laelo, Oddisee, Tabi Bonney, Noyeek the Grizzly Bear, Draus, and Choppy Choppe.
