Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz collided in this fight with the linear lightweight championship on the line. The fight took place in Diazs home town, Huston, giving the younger man the home canvass advantage. And it was Diaz who took up the early going, wobbling Marquez with a huge left hook. As the fight wore on however it was Marquez finding the target with more regularity, his usual counter punching, uppercuts working their way through the younger mans gloves and some great body shots into Diazs flabby(ish) middle. Great fight!

In good news, it has been reported by Dan Rafael over at ESPN.com, that Kirkland, 25-0(22), will be released into a "halfway house" on October 2nd, and that he could fight again before the year is out. At one point, it looked like Kirkland's promising career could be over. Thankfully, for he and his fans, Kirkland has been given another chance at fulfilling his sporting potential. Manny Pacquiao....The greatest Asian fighter of all time, probably the best left handed fighter of all time and on my list the number1 pound for pound fighter in the World right now. Ang Pinakadakilang. I believe future boxing historians will rate Pacquiao as one of the all time greats....period. I also believe that the allegations leveled at Manny of PED abuse are totally made up. I've heard Floyd Mayweather and others say "...the only guy I've ever heard of won't take a $10million drug test." I don't buy that, it seems more likely that it's just one multi-millionare boxer not willing to let another tell him what to do. Pac always said that if the Nevada State Athletic Commision insisted upon Olympic style blood tests then he would redily comply, but NOT just because Mayweather said so, and I say good on Pacquiao and his handlers for not caving in in the face of slander and incredible public pressure to 'just take the damn test!'. Anyway that's all I have to say about that. This video is not a full career highlightr, just some of my favourite bits. He's had so many great fights that you could never fit them into 10mins.
