I am concentrating more on the OHV part of the engine, everything else goes together the same as a flathead, also note flatheads cams and OHV camshafts are different. Put it back together ran great, better than ever, then it sheared the flywheel key, as you can tell by it backfiring. Then i put another one in it, tightened the nut down then the threads stripped out. I will do another update on this eventually if i get another crankshaft or have this one fixed. For our fourth and final Project-JK Norcal 2008 summer run, we decided to head up to the Niagara Rim OHV trail which is located deep in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, east of Modesto and near to the Sonora Pass. Of the 10 Jeep JK Wrangler's we had in our group (three 2-door and seven 4-door), most were slightly to moderately built up and one was bone stock with street tires. Of the drivers we had, most had some wheeling experience but never on the kind of terrain they would be seeing and a couple were in fact total newbies. At just a little over 6 miles in length, Niagara Rim is a relatively short trail that normally would take about 3 hours to complete but soon after we started the trail, it became clear to us that we wouldnt be getting back to camp until the end of the day. Because Niagara Rim is a "difficult" rated trail, we did make it a requirement that everyone had to have front and rear tow hooks and as it would turn out, they were very much needed and more than once. Throughout the day, we made our way up, down and across obstacles such as "No Way Out", "Hard Break Hill", "Sidewall Suicide" and ended our day playing around at the "Lion's Butt" which is about the closest thing to Moab I have seen here in California. The next day, most of our group headed home leaving only 3 Jeeps including ours to run the "Rock Pile" . Essentially the Rock Pile is a huge granite play area with all kinds of crazy route that will test your Jeep and your nerves to the limit <b>...</b>

We decided to have a rematch since our last trip out to Bridgeport Northwest OHV was in the snow and mud. This time around it was as dry as I have seen it and the temperature was well over 100. We had a great time with minimal damage and I'm sure we will be heading back soon. The video was filmed with the GoPro HD and Samsung SC-HMX20C.

1999 Ford Explorer, 4.0L OHV Engine - Vacuum Leak search. I think there is a vacuum leak in the upper intake plenum gasket. This leak is causing a Check Engine Light (CEL) code of P0171 (Bank 1 lean) and P0174 (Bank 2 lean). There are many reports of this type of Vacuum leak on the various Ford forums and some great how-to's on making this repair. Where is my leak??? This is me spraying carburetor cleaner all over the area of the upper intake gasket area and plenum (plastic).

Took a trip up to Turkey Bay to play around in my Jeep. Ended up having to ride alone, so I spent the day just scouting out some of the challenge area's. Had a great time and can't wait to go back and try out some of the challenge area's. Turkey Bay OHV trails are located in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation park. It's Located on the Tennessee/Kentucky Border and lies between, hints the names, Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. Turkey bay is located on the north side of the trace, main, north south, road through LBL, in cadiz kentucky. LBL is a wonderful spot for to take the family! There's plenty of camping, fishing, horse back riding, and out door adventures to explore!

rock front ranch is an ohv park off of hw 166 outside santa maria, ca. it is fairly easy, and just fun. good for newer riders. also if you love fire roads. i didnt get to ride the whole park, but there is plenty more. also, it is a good place to stop if you are headed to ballinger canyon. its about an hour before ballinger. across the street is another ohv trail, called miranda pines, or kerry canyon. enjoy

My new set up for charging a bank of 12 v batteries tied in series. I'm using a 9 hp OHV engine that has a 2 1/2 inch pulley and a 7 inch pulley on the PMA, I designed it so I can loosen the V belt which allows me to start the engine and then ease in the alternator, this is a must for charging a bank of batteries. There are a few you tube videos that show a lawnmower engine hooked up to a PMA, that's what I used to have but found it to be almost impossible to start the engine with the V belt tight, just way too much current and resistance, plus it's noisy and just plain ugly on the environment, this set up is by far better, the OHV engine is the way to go. I built the frame out of square tubing and mounted the motor on rubber mounts. I am getting 30 to 35 open volts at turtle speed, 40 volts full throttle. I can achieve more volts by reducing the size of pulley on the PMA if needed. I also have solar and wind to help charge my batteries but after running a week or so on the batteries this help charge the batteries, I really hate to use the engine but it's way better than running a generator.
