This experimental opposed design using Briggs & Stratton engines, is what is called an opposed engine, since there is 2 pistons with a crankshaft at each end. The crankshafts are chained together to keep them synchronized with each other. I varied from the true opposed design by staggering the cylinders so that their centerlines don't line up now. This allowed me to create more of an over-head valve design, out of 2 Flatheads. I am working on a true opposed type 2 cycle, supercharged engine,based on the Junkers Jumo 205, but it is a long ways away yet. Some of the unusual noise is the flywheels rubbing on the cooling shroud, it just wants to rub for some reason :( With about 9:1 compression, this is a beast to start, as a second person is required to hold it down. It runs well, and usually starts on the first pull. The throttle is set about 40% open, as the 1 carburator is fussy about feeding twice the engine it was designed for, so I throttle it with my hand on the vid. The whole set-up weighs in at about 50lb, it is an awkward beast to lift around due to its shape and size.

Here's a first video concerning "Difference and Repetition" by Gilles Deleuze. My remarks concern first ten pages of the preface. All quotes come from the translation by Paul Patton published in 1994 by the Athlon Press Limited. Here's a transcript of this video: I have made my preliminary reading of the pages in question and I must say I'm very impressed. The notion of repetition sketched there is most interesting, albeit complex to say the least. From what I gather Deleuze observes that repetition might not exist in nature because of the non-exchangeability and non-substitutability of subsequent singularities (sorry for my English). I think he wants to point out the uniqueness of apparently similar singularities or events, which despite their mutual resemblance cannot be identical because of "a secret vibration that animates it, a more profound, internal repetition within the singular"(p. 1). Ward Allen Tribute 2- Ward played with Wilf Carter, appeared on the Grand Ole Oprey and had a radio show with Frank Ryan on CFRA in Ottawa Canada. He played with his band the Happy Wanderers with Joe Brown on base who later created (literally the Brown family). I love Ward because he represents the high point of Canadian fiddling, based on the farming life in the 50s, 60 as opposed to the nouveau fiddling of today aka Celtic or Cape Bretonish. He played more single string, as opposed to the double bowing by our friend south of the border and never used the infamous jerkoff bowing methods. He made the fiddle ring but had a real sweet real note that came from his being. The Japanese defended Tarawa with approximately 3000 men of the 7th Sasebo Special Naval Landing Force, "Japanese Imperial Marines," and 1000 Korean laborers. By the end of the battle 990 US Marines were listed as killed-in-action. Out of the entire Japanese garrison 1 officer and 16 Japanese enlisted men survived. The American public was outraged; by the 3286 casualties, inflicted on the Marines, for an island 1 square mile in size. Marine cameraman took amazing combat footage of the 3 day battle. "With the Marines at Tarawa" (ca. 1945) Tarawa, or Betio Island, was assaulted on November 20th, 1943 by the 2nd Marine Division. The Japanese defended Tarawa with approximately 3000 men of the 7th Sasebo Special Naval Landing Force, "Japanese Imperial Marines," and 1000 Korean laborers. By the end of the battle 990 US Marines were listed as killed-in-action. Out of the entire Japanese garrison 1 officer and 16 Japanese enlisted men survived. The American public was outraged; by the 3286 casualties, inflicted on the Marines, for an island 1 square mile in size. Marine cameraman took amazing combat footage of the 3 day battle. It was up to that time a shocking account of combat in the Pacific. So shocking was the footage, that many top military figures opposed releasing the film: "With the Marines at Tarawa." President Roosevelt overruled all opposition and the film was released for general circulation. "With the Marines at Tarawa" won an Academy award for: Best Short Documentary in 1945

On November 21st, America, UK and Canada announced more sanctions against Iran. France also proposed to adopt new sanctions to force Tehran to stop it's nuclear project. On Nov 23rd, the spokesman of Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s Foreign Ministry said in a regular press conference held in Beijing that China is opposed to unilateral sanctions against Iran. Scholars believe that, being isolated, China and Iran need mutual support. Meanwhile, the CCP government, with internal and external difficulties, may express an even tougher diplomatic "voice".
