It is from the makers having backgrounds making cellos, violins and upright basses and players like Joe Pass, George Van Epps, Ted Green love these old epiphones and all of the real players sang their praises as a much better guitar then like the old over built Gibson L5s which are cool but seriously overbuilt and not very musical sounding as the wood was too thick and no violin voicings but still dig them and in fact want to buy one for my collection and to hang in my studio,

In this episode of the DirtyImpreza.com Project Rally RS (PRRS) build we cover the events from much of 2008. The 2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS was stripped down, seam welded, caged, painted, and re-assembled with a donor motor and transmission from another 2001 2.5RS. The roll cage was constructed by Jackson Rally and is Rally America and NASA compliant (built to FIA Article 253 specs). It has been overbuilt in some areas for extra safety and rigidity. The shell has been seam welded around the struts, transmission tunnel, cabin floor, and wheel wells. The roof skin was replaced with a JDM roof to completely delete the USDM sunroof option. Its been a long year, but finally we have a running rally car! There are still numerous smaller projects that need to be tackled before this car is stage rally ready, but some of the biggest milestones have already been reached. A tour of my new induction heater. This is a work-in-progress between two designs, a low power unit which can run from 120V, and a high power unit good for 10kW or so. The control circuit is well overbuilt in comparison to the output stage, because I'm testing pieces as I build them. The major difference between this and previous models is the output network, which is series resonant, driven through a power transformer. The network response is so much nicer now, and inverter power factor is actually usable. Power output is already more than I've ever had before, especially from a 120V test. Compare the last section of this clip to my previous test.

From the project team called Syynlabs: When the rock band OK Go, famous for their viral videos including the spectacular and award winning treadmills video, wanted to feature a 4-minute long Rube Goldberg Machine in an upcoming video, they tapped Syyn Labs to build it. The requirements were that it had to be interesting, not overbuilt or too technology-heavy, and easy to follow. The machine also had to be built on a shoestring budget, synchronize with beats and lyrics in the music and end on time over a 3.5 minute song, play a part of the song, and be filmed in one shot. To make things more challenging still, the space chosen was divided into two floors and the machine would use both. We had our work cut out for us; every facet of Syyn Labs expertise was required to meet this tremendous challenge. See the results of this remarkable effort in the video embedded above. On Friday, on an impulse, I decided to pop into a public Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server to see what all the fuss was about! I logged on to a relatively new server, which I liked because there was still a lot of wilderness and it wasn't completely overbuilt with sculptures and buildings. After exploring a bit, and accumulating a small following of other players, I headed West (as I do) and found a nice outcropping to call home. I bid farewell to my party after planting a flower on a cliff edge. I returned later Friday night to find that, within a few short hours, my following had claimed the land in the Farlander's name and built some wonderful log cabins reminiscent of my original Far Lands or Bust cabin! Unfortunately I was not recording then, and the server has since been catastrophically reset, deleting all the work that had been done! (Yet another reason I'm not a big fan of SMP.) Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, friends! Hey everybody, I've been getting a lot of requests for a simple bow string making video so here it is! Today we'll be making a simple counter-twist bowstring that works great for longbows, simple recurves, older traditional bows and PVC pipe bows. Specifically, we'll be making a two-loop string. If you want to make a long string for tillering bows, just don't build the second loop. While I normally use B-50 Dacron for most of my strings, there has been a lot of interest in inexpensive string material for youth bows and PVC pipe bows. I've been using polypropylene twine with great success. It's not nearly as strong as Dacron, though most Dacron strings are very overbuilt anyway. Polypropylene twine is very low-stretch and it is important to use enough of it to build a strong string. While Dacron strings rarely break, a polypropylene string has a higher chance of doing so, so make a couple and replace them if they start fraying or stretching excessively. This is part of a log, showing my efforts to building an animatronic replica of the Lost in Space Robot called B9, from the 60's TV series. This is a work in progress and only about 1/2 done. I am special effects make up artist for film by trade and was self taught to apply animatronics to puppets back when there was such a thing. If you watch to the end there is bonus footage (again work in progress) of a proposed all CG version of the Lost in Space TV series.
