Legandary debate between the then top candidates of the german parliamentary parties in the 2005 election night on Septemer 18th. The front-runners were invited to the 'Berliner Runde' (Berlin Round) moderated by Hartmann von der Tann (ARD) and Nikolaus Brender (ZDF). They should comment on the incoming election results and discuss eventual coalition talks. Paticipants were Gerhard Schröder (SPD), Angela Merkel (CDU), Edmund Stoiber (CSU), Joschka Fischer (Green Party), Guido Westerwelle (FDP) and Lothar Bisky (LINKE, at that time 'LINKE.PDS') Media and politicians expressed their surprise at Schröder's performance in this debate in which he interpreted the results as a mandate to govern. At that time, the chancelor banked on wrong inside information that his party would closely get ahead of the CDU due to overhang seats. Few weaks later the SPD found itsself in an unintended Great Coalition ("Große Koalition") with the conservative CDU under a Federal Chancelor Angela Merkel. English subtitles available!

Scenes of parliamentary debate today on the motion to censure Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim over his '1Malaysia-One Israel' allegations. The opposition leader was calm and collected as he faced the House and thundered: "Punish me, evict me, imprison me, I shall not waver". Anwar first jab was directed at Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's for what he claimed was the sudden change of Malaysia' foreign policy which he said used to be 'firm, staunch and respectable'. He even went as far as praising his nemesis former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamed. "Despite our disagreements, I respect Tun Mahathir and his policies," said Anwar.

www.taghyeer.net إذا لم تشارك اليوم فلا تشكوغداً BBC Documentary Why democracy - Egypt We Are Watching You Film Context In 2005, Mubarak announced that Egypt would hold multi-party presidential elections in Egypt. The elections were given strong support by the US government. The vote was marked by violence and fraud; it was boycotted by large parts of the opposition because they believed it was run unfairly. The voter turnout was remarkably low according to the Carnegie Endowment it was a mere 23 percent. Regardless, the US Government described it as a victory. Mubarak won a fifth term in office and very little was done to address the unfair aspects of the elections. In response to indifference about government and democracy three Egyptian women formed Shayfeen to educate the people about democracy. Political History Egypt was under monarchic rule until 1952 when Gamal Abdel Nasser came to power. Nasser was president from 1954 until he died of a heart attack in 1970. Nasser was a proponent of Pan-Arab nationalism, socialism and the non-alliance movement. He is famous for leading Egypt into the Six Day War with Israel in 1967, which Egypt lost. In 1970 Anwar Sadat came to power. Sadat is most famous for signing the first peace agreement between Israel and an Arab country. The peace agreement was signed in 1979 and is believed to have been the reason for his assassination in 1981. Since then Mubarak has been in power. WATCH: The Internet's News Network www.NewsTsar.com LONDON - Rupert Murdoch was humbled Tuesday by a committee of lawmakers who grilled one of the world's most powerful media moguls and his son on their role in a phone-hacking scandal that has embroiled some of Britain's top politicians, police and journalists. The elder Murdoch banged his hands on the table and said the day was the most humble of his life, becoming flustered when committee members peppered with him questions and turning to his son James for some answers. In a tense question-and-answer session with lawmakers, Murdoch, 80, said he was "shocked, appalled and ashamed" at the hacking of the phone of a murdered schoolgirl by his now-shuttered News of the World tabloid. He said he had seen no evidence that victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attack and their relatives were targeted by any of his papers. Murdoch said he was not responsible for the hacking scandal, and his company was not guilty of willful blindness. He repeatedly batted away questions about operations at the News of the World by saying he wasn't really in touch with the tabloid or didn't know what was going on there. Murdoch also told the committee that he didn't believe the FBI had uncovered any evidence of hacking Sept. 11 victims in a recently launched inquiry. James Murdoch apologized for the scandal, telling British lawmakers that "these actions do not live up to the standards our company aspires to." The younger Murdoch said the company ...

1st of all as anyone can see from my videos that I am very unbiased and I am not a fan of either party, but I think Haider Abbas Rizvi and Waseem Akhtar went way too far to please their master.... The British form of government is one of the most stable forms of government in the world. For 945 years, the British unitary parliamentary democracy-constitutional monarchy system has evolved through time but its essence and legal procedures remain intact. 1066 was the beginning of the establishment of a constitutional monarchy in England. Through years of peace and conflict, the form of government has evolved and united England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Since 1522, after the restoration of the monarchy with King Charles II, the reigning monarch convenes both Houses to mark the commencement of the new session of Parliament. This has been done yearly for 488 years. The British Monarchy is the oldest constitutional monarchy in the world As a constitutional monarchy, while The Sovereign is Head of State the ability to make and pass legislation resides with an elected Parliament. Although the British Sovereign no longer has a political or executive role, he or she continues to play an important part in the life of the nation. As Head of State, The Monarch undertakes constitutional and representational duties which have developed over one thousand years of history. In addition to these State duties, The Monarch has a less formal role as 'Head of Nation'. The Sovereign acts as a focus for national identity, unity and pride; gives a sense of stability and continuity; officially recognizes success and excellence; and supports the ideal of voluntary service ...
