Macro Photography Techniques - Digital Photography 1 on 1 (#31) Video

www.adorama.com - Macro Photography Techniques and Tips - In this episode number 31, Mark will show you how to take those up close photos! Macro photography techniques allow unique opportunities to produce creative and dramatic photos and Mark shows us a couple examples. Macro Photography On Wiki: en.wikipedia.org - "Quote" Macrophotography is close-up photography, usually of very small subjects. Classically a macrophotograph is one in which the size of the subject on the negative is greater than life size. However in modern use it refers to a finished photograph of a subject at greater than life size.[1] The ratio of the subject size on the film plane (or image sensor plane) to the actual subject size is known as the reproduction ratio. Likewise, a macro lens is classically one lens capable of reproduction ratios greater than 1:1, although it now refers to any lens with a large reproduction ratio, despite rarely exceeding 1:1. Outside of technical photography and film-based processes, where the size of the image on the negative or image sensor is the subject of discussion, the finished print or on-screen image more commonly lends a photograph its macro status. For example, when producing a 6×4 inch (15×10 cm) print using 135 format film or sensor, a life-size result is possible with a lens having only a 1:4 reproduction ratio. Reproduction ratios much greater than 1:1 are considered to be the realm of photomicroscopy, often achieved with digital microscope. "End quote <b>...</b>

How to Shoot Fireworks | Tips, Tricks, Advanced Photography Techniques DVD

This is a quick into into getting great fireworks images. It assumes you have a basic knowledge of SLR photography and are comfortable with trying new skills. 2 quick things I wanted to add: 1. Set your focus to "infinity" and turn your lens switch to "off" and second, if you can get a remote, that would be even more helpful when shooting in "bulb". This is just one of many lessons from my upcoming DVD, Advanced Photography Techniques, while it is not available yet, you can get on the mailing list to be notified as soon as it is available: michaelthemaven.list-manage.com

Photojournalism and Photography Techniques: Tips From Ed Kashi

Award-winning photojournalist Ed Kashi joins us today on the Marc Silber Show to share tips on advancing your photography. His photojournalism work has covered a wide range of global issues and been featured in magazines such as The National Geographic, TIME, and Newsweek. Ed sees himself as a long-form visual storyteller and dedicates himself to telling stories of social or political significance. He often refers to the phrase "candid intimacy" for his work - people often look at his work and ask "How do you get so close to the people, but make it look like they don't know you're there?" When a photo achieves "candid intimacy," the observer is able to see into the soul of the subject. It is tough to achieve candid intimacy, especially when people are adverse to having their photos taken. More and more of his work is being shot from his hip or his shoulder, to avoid provoking people who are not favorable to the lens. Sometimes the best magic appears in images that are shot without staring into the viewfinder. Ed emphasizes that it is crucial to maintain an open heart and open mind, instead of settling for what one sees on the surface. Cameras are a passport into another world that you would never experience otherwise.

Commercial Photographer Joey Lawrence - Photography Techniques

www.silberstudios.tv Joey Lawrence, only 20 years old, is one of the most sought-after commercial photographers in the business. While Joey's commercial work consists of advertisements and work for movies, television, and musicians, his personal work focuses on fine art portraiture around the world. Today, he talks with Marc Silber about techniques for both beginning and established photographers alike One distinct quality in Joey's photos is the clear emotional connection between subject and photographer. Joey concentrates on interacting with the subjects beforehand to make them more comfortable. Often, they are not accustomed to working with cameras, so Joey will spend a day just getting to know them and their culture. He describes these images as collaborations with the subjects, which result in much more powerful photos. Joey encourages photographers to take advantage of all the resources available today. The internet is a great resource, with numerous photography blogs and articles online. To improve one's photography skills, constantly experimenting with new techniques and making mistakes is necessary. Click to subscribe now to stay updated.

Photography Tips From Fine Art Photographer Huntington Witherill

www.silberstudios.tv Fine art photographer Huntington Witherill joins us today on the Marc Silber show to share tips about photography and his views on the process as a whole. He reminds us that it is important to focus on the process of being the photographer rather than constantly looking to get the next photograph or image. A passion for the medium is one of the most important components—being engaged and passionate about anything takes a lot of patience, persistence and hard work. Huntington also advises people to get rid of preconceptions when going out to a location to shoot photos. It's easy to carry a preconceived idea when you're going to a specific place, but you might happen upon something completely different that creates an amazing photo. As for practical tips, he believes that 2D design classes are helpful for visualizing composition for photographs. Learning how to arrange forms and lines is useful for creating balance and a sense of purpose in a photograph.

We're in San Francisco with our guest John Freeman Todd, a professional sports photographer for over 21 years. He shares a few sports photography tips that can help amateurs start taking better photos. John specializes in soccer photography, and as the team photographer for Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes and the US Men and Women's soccer teams, he has taken a number of stunning pictures over his career. John's style is to take bold, beautiful images. He keeps the background clean so the actions and emotions of his subject are the clear focus of the photo. He follows one of Ansel Adams' best photography tips: think about the end result before you take the picture, and use your mind as a tool to achieve that goal. His advice for amateurs is to move beyond your camera's full auto settings and learn how to use manual settings for focus, lighting, and exposure.
