Seeing the Light - Photography Tutorial

cazillo.com Excuse my Rant! I just couldn't help it. I've been noticing way too many photos lately that were mediocre but could have been enhanced with better lighting or angle. In this video I go through a few photos that can give you ideas on how to improve your lighting. Here are a few tips to help even more. Study photographs! There is no replacement for studying other photographer's work. Try to break down how photographs were lit, position of lights & shadow Change the pose or angle for a portrait to get a better result Watch the lighting on TV shows or movies. They are great at what they do (most of the time...) so pay attention! Last one: keep working at it and practicing! Most great photographs don't fall in your lap, you need to CREATE THEM!

Photography Tutorial - Basics of Composition

froknowsphoto.com To me composition should be one of the main focuses when you are just starting out with photography. Looking back when I first started out you could usually see that the images were composed well even if the exposures were not even close. Early on my exposure were terrible, I didn't know any better but to me its more important early on to see the image and compose it. For a top 5 tips on composition please click the link above.

Photography Tutorial for Beginners: Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO

Photography Tutorial for Beginners: APERTURE Tutorial SHUTTER SPEED Tutorial ISO Tutorial There three things that affect the exposure of an image: The APERTURe, SHUTTER SPEED and ISO. You need to find the perfect balance between these three elements to get the right look that you want, as well as the right exposure. The aperture affects the amount of light that comes into the sensor and the depth of field. The depth of field will determine how much of the image is in focus. The shutter speed will determine the length of the exposure. The longer the shutter speed, the more light comes in, and the shorter the shutter speed, the less light comes into the image. It also determines the amount of blur that appears in the photo. A longer exposure is more susceptible to blur and camera shake. The ISO is the sensitivity of the sensor to light. Lower ISOs mean that the sensor is less sensitive and therefore going to need more light to expose an image. Higher ISO requires less light to expose and image, but adds noise the the image. Noise will saturate color, making them look unrealistic. Getting the right exposure is all about balancing these three elements. It will take time, but if you learn the basics, it gets easier! Leave comments and questions in the comment section! I'm always happy to help! Thanks! LINKS! Photography Tutorial Nikon D3100 D7000

froknowsphoto.com I wanted to show you how easy it is to do a full photo shoot with multiple angles and one lens in 10 minutes. As you can see I am shooting with the Nikon D3000 and 35 F/1.8. I was able to capture 4 or 5 different angles from full length to head shots to detailed shots. I guessed my settings based off of pre visualizing my environment. I knew there was not a lot of light inside which told me I should shoot at a higher ISO like 800. I know in the D3000 that if I go higher than 800 ISO i may be compromising the quality of the image. I chose 60th of a second at 1.8 as a starting point than tweaked from there. You have to be very careful when shooting wide open at 1.8 that you do not miss your focus. As you can see in the picture with the pencil you have such a narrow focus that if you move forward or back or your subject moves you may miss your focus all together. Start to get into the habit of pre visualizing your situation so when you walk into it you have a basis for your initial settings. Over time you will start to be able to read the light before you take the camera out of the bag. Be sure to watch the entire video as you will see the photo shoot first followed by a screen flow where I discuss composition of each image as well as how I edited the RAW file.

What is ISO or how to use ISO? Digital Photography Tutorial. Basic lesson for beginners

www.facebook.com www.PhotographersOnUTube.com Photography Tutorials & Tips A detailed tutorial of "ISO" with picture samples. Important Notes: * The higher the ISO the more sensitive the sensor is going to be to light. * The lower the ISO the less sensitive the sensor is going to be to light. You use low ISO when shooting in daylight or with studio light. You use high ISO when there is not a lot of light available. The drawback of high ISO is graininess/noise in picture.
