Old School Hip Hop Mega Mix Two

oldschoolscholar.com This video's theme is about the culture and music of Hip Hop vs Rap. What we hope you will identify is the enormous amounts of artists, flavors, aesthetics, crews, personalities, and competition that truly made the culture of real Hip Hop. Mainstream Rap, thanks to the corporate recording industry, has essentially stripped the pillars of Hip Hop away from what they call music. Hip Hop is for and from the streets as a true life form. Mainstream Rap is for and from controlled commercial marketing practices to sell products and brands. We are simply demonstrating the greatness of the Old School and Golden Age of Hip Hop due to its tremendous growth and trailblazing thanks to style wars and battling by being "fresh" out the box every time. Thanks to Mainstream Rap, or Hip Pop, the current market only sells "clones." They all sound alike, dress alike, speak alike, deliver alike, and pose alike. Same content. Same gimmicks and artificial flavors. This is the real Attack of the Clones. We thank the real emcees and artists in the streets for delivering the real Hip Hop like People Under The Stairs, JabberWockeez, East 3, DJ Craze, and Charlie 2na.

Artifacts - The Ultimate

Artifacts is a hip hop group consisting of El Da Sensei, Tame One and DJ Kaos. They hail from Newark, New Jersey and made underground music that paid homage to the four elements of hip hop. The Artifacts' most popular single "Wrong Side of Da Tracks" paid special homage to graffiti art, as they were graffiti artists themselves. They released their first album, Between a Rock and a Hard Place on October 27, 1994. Well received by underground hip hop audiences, it featured intelligent lyrics, as well as b-boy and graffiti themes. The album's hard-hitting, funky beats were produced by Buckwild (from the DITC crew) and T-Ray (from the Soul Assassins crew). The Artifacts' second album, That's Them was released on April 15, 1997. It featured similar material, but it did not receive as much recognition as their debut effort. The Artifacts split soon after the release of this second album. Tame One and El Da Sensei have both continued to release music as solo artists. In 2003, Tame One joined the Weathermen, an underground rap group including Cage Kennylz, Camu Tao, Aesop Rock, and El-P. Soon after joining the Weathermen, Tame One and Cage released the album Waterworld under the name Leak Bros. In 2009, Tame ONe collaborated with another member of the Definitive Jux label, releasing the album Parallel Uni-Verses with Del the Funky Homosapien. El Da Sensei has released a number of solo albums and collaborated with the Polish rap group The Returners in 2008, as well as East Coast ...

Das EFX - Real Hip Hop

From 1995 Album: "Hold It Down"...[Artist info below]..... Get Das EFX's Music: www.amazon.com & itunes.apple.com Das EFX is an American hip-hop group. It consists of emcees Skoob (also known as Books, born William "Willie" Hines on January 2, 1971) and Dre (also known as Krazy Drayzy, born Andre Weston on June 1, 1972). They rose to popularity in the early 1990s due to their affiliation with EPMD's Hit Squad and the group's stream of consciousness lyrical delivery, which became one of the most influential lyrical styles in hip hop music during the early 1990s.[1] Their style combined nonsensical lines with a fast-paced ragga-influenced flow (that included words that end with "iggedy") and numerous pop culture references. Group member Skoob hails from Brooklyn, New York City while Krazy Drayzy hails from Teaneck, New Jersey but the two met at Virginia State University in 1988 and began performing together. They named themselves "Das" standing for "Drayz and Skoob" and "EFX" meaning "effects". Das EFX caught the attention of EPMD at a local talent show where, despite losing the competition, they did well enough to convince EPMD to sign them to a recording contract. The duo gained critical and commercial fame with the release of their landmark debut album, Dead Serious, which highlighted their unusual rapping style which they nicknamed "sewage". Dead Serious went platinum and its lead single, "They Want EFX,"(which contains samples from James Brown's "Blind Man Can See It ...

Byron Hurt interview on "Hip Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes"

Refreshing and enlightening conversation with filmmaker and activist Byron Hurt on his renowned documentary on male identity in hip hop "Hip Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes". The film deconstructs hip hop as it relates to African American culture and consciousness, and it illustrates the elements of violence, misogyny and homophobia that are often endemic in this cultural form. This conversation also engages on aspects of modern race relations, culture and the rise of inspiring new models of African American manhood, including Barack Obama.

THE FUGEES LIVE! DECEMBER.25.1995 THE ARK

Fugees (pronounced /ˈfuːdʒiːz/) were a Haitian American hip hop group who rose to fame in the mid-1990s. Their repertoire included elements of hip hop, soul and Caribbean music, particularly reggae. The members of the group were rapper/singer/producer Wyclef Jean, rapper/singer/producer Lauryn Hill, and rapper Pras Michel. Deriving their name from the term refugee, Jean and Pras are Haitian, while Hill is American. The group recorded two albums—one of which, The Score (1996), was a multi-platinum and Grammy-winning success—before disbanding in 1997. Hill and Jean each went on to successful solo recording careers; Michel focused on soundtrack recordings and acting, though he found commercial success with his song "Ghetto Supastar". In 2007, MTV ranked them the 9th greatest Hip-hop group of all time from wiki.
