Before He Cheats - A Teacher Parody

A parody of Carrie Underwood's video "Before He Cheats" from a teacher's perspective dealing with a cheating student in her school. Lyrics & Video Production by Jim McKenzie Performed by Kristen Huish LYRICS: Right now, he's probably up typing that four page report, and its due tomorrow morning. Right now, he's probably thinking he can't get all of it done, so he'll search Pink Monkey. Right now, he's probably up copying with a mouse-click, pasting in what he found on Google! And he don't know.... That I'll write in red onto the side of his neatly written essay -- "plagiarized," Mark my grade there too as a letter "D." I took a detention referral on which to write, "Stay at school for four more hours...." Maybe next time he'll think, before he cheats.... Right now, he's probably up studying some white-cell lecture for Mrs. Snodgrass physiology. Right now, he's probably saying "I'm sunk" and he's a thinking that he's gonna fail biology. Right now, he's probably typing in 3 pages worth of notes in his cell phone... But he don't know.... That I'll write in red onto the side of his neatly written test -- "you compromised," Mark my grade there too as a letter "D." I took a detention referral on which to write, "Stay at school for four more hours...." And maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.... I might saved a little trouble for the next teacher, Cause the next time that he cheats... Oh, you know it won't be on me! No..... not on me.... 'Cause I'll write in red onto ...

In this video, Jason is reading over a draft of a paper he's writing. He is visited by a future version of himself, who recognizes part of the paper as being directly copied from another student's project. Since Jason hasn't attributed those ideas to their source, he is guilty of plagiarism. To fix the problem, Jason revises his paper to make it obvious where he got the ideas. Led Zeppelin Examples of Plagiarism

READ THIS DESCRIPTION BEFORE COMMENTING! Here is a compilation of 10 artists who have either won legal battles / settlements against Led Zeppelin or are currently in court. In most cases it is unfair to say that Led Zeppelin "stole" other people's music for their own albums. Zeppelin fans will say that they just covered these songs. However, this is not the case. According to the writing credits on I, II, III, & IV, all songs are said to be written by Page/Plant; even traditional songs. After many legal battles from original artists, their name credits have been restored. If you buy an LZ album today and compare it to the first pressing, you will see very different writing credits. Many songs are open to interpretation. It's a 50/50 battle when you listen to Stairway to Heaven. All examples, however, do have back stories as to when Page or Plant referenced the "stolen" song prior to recording it themselves. I had to cram 10 examples into a 10 minute video, so I suggest listening to the songs in full to make your own decisions. I'd also love to hear your side of the argument in the comments below. Let's be civil and open some good-point conversations. If you're using this forum for ignornace and name-calling, you'll be deleted and blocked. Enjoy. Use your own ideas and words. Practice is essential to learning. Each time you choose your words, order your thoughts, and convey your ideas, you can improve your writing. Give credit for copied, adapted and paraphrased material. If you repeat another's exact words you MUST use quotation marks and cite the source. If you adapt a chart or paraphrase a sentence, you must still cite. Avoid using others' work with minor "cosmetic" changes. Examples: Using "less" for "fewer", reversing the order of a sentence, changing terms in a computer code, or altering a layout. If the work is essentially the same, you must give credit. Beware of "Common Knowledge". You don't have to cite "common knowledge", BUT the fact must really be common knowledge. That Abraham Lincoln was the US President during the Civil War is common knowledge; that over 51000 Union and Confederate soldiers died in The Battle of Gettysburg1 is not. There are no freebies. ALWAYS cite words, information, and ideas you use if they are new to you. No matter where you find it! Even if it's in an encyclopedia or on the Internet, you MUST cite it.

I'm writing my new book of knowledge! I'm so excited. Show computer screen, as the words are being typed. "Words of wisdom, by Marina Orlova" To be or not to be, that is the question. Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. This book is going to be so awesome! You can't write that... those aren't your words! What? Those aren't your words... the first is Shakespeare and the second phrase if John F. Kennedy! You're plagiarizing! Plagiarizing? Yes... if you use someone else's quotes in your work, you have to cite them. Here.. use this while writing your paper.. it will help you! Wow.. this is cool Marina adds the citation to the document. Cool! So if you use someone else's quotes, it's plagiarism, UNLESS you cite them then it's fine to use them!! I'll just use OuiWrite when I write my book from now on, just to be safe. But what exactly is plagiarism and where did that word come from? Hmm.. HotForWords must investigate the word plagiarism! To plagiarize means to steal someone else's artistic or literary work without attributing it to that person and to pass it off as your own work. The word comes to us in the 1600s from the word plagiary which in classical Latin meant a person who is a kidnaps someone from plaga which means a net.. I guess they used nets in the old days ...

Why Plagiarism Fails

Been sitting on this for awhile now... What is Plagiarism?... www.plagiarism.org According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, to "plagiarize" means •to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own •to use (another's production) without crediting the source •to commit literary theft •to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source. In other words, plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterward.
