Synology DS1010+ with Plex Media Server remote streaming demo
This video shows remote streaming via Plex Media Server on a Synology DS1010+. The internet connection on the Synology side of the connection is a 40/4Mbit Ziggo line. On the 'TV side' it's a 10/10Mbit glassfiber line. The limitation is in the 4Mbit upload at the Synology side. @2Mbit the video quality isn't very good. At 3Mbit it's actually very nice. This is demonstration of Plex on the Roku Media Box. The Roku client is still in beta and only does video. The Plex Media server is 9.5 running on a Windows 7 64 machine, a late 2009 Mac Mini (2.66GHZ, 4RAM) I haven't been able to get online video content to run.

How to install PlayStation 3 Media Server in Ubuntu Linux
This tutorial will show you how to setup a program called PS3mediaserver which will allow you to share your multimedia files with your PlayStation 3 over a local area network. Commands and links mentioned (Updated June 15; the Java JRE is no longer a part of the "ubuntu-restricted-extras" package and will need to be installed from a third party repository. I have modified the command below into one LONG command that is actually a series of command, which will run one after the other. My Wired Network and Media Server Configuration
This is how I set up the wired network in my house from a router to a 10/100 switch, and then to another router. The router in the office is a Linksys WRT300N, and the switch is just a standard Linksys 5 port switch. The router in my room is one of those hunted-after Linksys T-Mobile WRT54G-TM routers, running custom DD-WRT firmware dated 07/10/2009. I got the router for 15 dollars. I am using XBMC for the media server client, and Serv-U for the FTP server. Then, everything is just configured to my liking in terms of port-forwarding, and the like. If you have a similar need - a media center that's also a media server, but with detachable/interchangeable storage, and two machines that need to switch between wired and wireless networking but staying in a DMZ - then this is probably the best set up you can use. Oh, and this was all shot with my iPhone 3GS.
