Opponents say the international ACTA document is pure censorship, and a violation of human rights. On Friday, the European Parliament's rapporteur for the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement resigned in protest. Kader Arif said drafting of the controversial anti-piracy treaty was accompanied by "never-before-seen manoeuvres" by officials. In Warsaw, extremely cold weather was definitely not an excuse for demonstrators. Friday's protest culminated a week of mass rallies in Poland. It needs to be very cold, ideally close to -30C (-22F) or below for this trick to work properly. At around -20C (-4F), you'll still get a lot of water splashing onto the ground - I tried it - so it needs to be colder. I'm usually in the UK, and it NEVER gets nearly as cold in London. This was during the culmination of the 2012 Siberian cold wave in Eastern Europe, on the coldest morning in six years in south-eastern Poland. While Russia's baking in the heat, Central Europe is swimming in floods. Heavy rains have caused rivers to burst their banks, and left at least 10 people dead in the last few days. The flooding's struck an area near the borders of Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic. Thousands have had to be evacuated from the worst affected areas. Helicopters are plucking people to safety from the roofs of their homes. Meanwhile, a state of emergency has been declared in some parts of Serbia after hailstorms, strong winds and heavy rain hit the country. Eyewitnesses reported seeing hailstones as big as eggs which destroyed some 1000 hectares of orchards and crops.

Another 20 people have died in Ukraine and nine in Poland as temperatures fall below -30C (-22F), officials say. Europe's current cold snap has claimed more than 110 lives so far, including 63 in Ukraine and 29 in Poland. The Serbian authorities say about 11000 villagers have been cut off by snow and blizzards in remote areas. A weekend trip with Nat & Nat's parents to Krakow in August 2011. Really nice small city. We had great weather - about 26 degrees each day. Really good value and great quality food. The highlight was the dumpling festival which we surprisingly walked into. It was the first time I've tried Polish dumplings and they were delicious. The fruit and cream dumplings were my favourite!
