Caught on Tape: Stockton police beat black guy in California arrest

STOCKTON, CA - The beating of a suspect by police officers with batons, was witnessed by dozens of people near a downtown cineplex, including News10 cameras. Police were detaining Barike Wiltz, 34, because he was intoxicated. A scuffle with an officer began with the suspect and home video, shot by a nearby store owner, shows Barike trying to grab the officer's gun. The suspect then fled a block away to Miner Avenue where we was beaten almost a dozen times by three officers with batons. A News10 crew was on the street corner taping an unrelated interview and caught the incident on camera. "I thought it looked like Rodney King being beaten, it seemed like it was too much," witness Trevon Edwards said. Police defend their actions. "The suspect grabbed the officers gun and tried to pull it out of the holster, because of that, we used any force necessary to stop the suspect and make an arrest," Det. Joe Silva said. The suspect, a parolee, is being held in the San Joaquin County Jail on charges of fighting with police and trying to grab an officer's weapon. News10/KXTV

Taken at 10.15pm on August 9th, 2011, in Manchester. Tactical Aid Unit London Riot Police beat alleged teenage rioters on bicycles try to flee city centre, and blockade the street. The sound you can hear in the background is the helicopter overhead, which had been hovering around the area for about 10 minutes, tracking them with its spotlight. The man on the bike gets up on his own, and is ushered to the side of the road by a policeman. Another man with a bike is questioned, and allowed to continue on. After seeming to question those they had caught for a few minutes, the two teams met at the top of the hill and left with the TAU van, heading back towards the city centre. NEW SURVEILLANCE VIDEO SHOWS SHOCKING MOMENT POLICE 'BEAT AND TASERED HOMELESS MAN TO DEATH'

New surveillance video showing two officers beating a 37-year-old homeless man was played Monday -- the latest evidence presented at a preliminary hearing in the man's death. The graphic black and white video is from a security camera at the nearby bus depot, and shows Officer Manuel Ramos and Corporal Jay Cincinelli -- two men charged in the death of Kelly Thomas. In the footage, which lasts about 25 minutes, Kelly can be heard off-camera, screaming in pain as he is beaten with batons and Tasered by Cicinelli. NBC Los Angeles said that Thomas ultimately died because of the incredible force of the officers' weight on his chest, citing the coroner's report. He can be heard yelling in the video, 'I can't breathe!' as police continue to taser him. That was not the only shocking moment shown to the court Monday. The bloody, battered photo of the dead homeless man drew gasps at the court hearing. Prosecutors revealed that Thomas begged for his father as a group of police officers hit him with batons and a Taser at a bus depot in Fullerton, California, last summer. However, a witness testified that both of the accused officers, Manuel Ramos and Cpl Jay Cinelli, were in shocked disbelief at the man who refused to stop fighting them. Ramos was holding his rib cage and out of breath after the incident in July, police forensic specialist Dawn Scruggs said. Ramos told her he had never had anyone fight him like that before, she said. 'He looked like he was in disbelief of what just ...

WINDSOR POLICE BEATING CAUGHT ON TAPE

CBC News has obtained video that shows a Windsor, Ont., police officer beating a doctor who is legally blind. Det. David Van Buskirk, who attacked Dr. Tyceer Abouhassan on April 22, 2010, pleaded guilty Thursday to assault causing bodily harm. Video cameras at the Jackson Park Health Centre captured the beating, although much of the physical altercation is slightly out of frame. Afterwards, Van Buskirk wrote in his report that the doctor ""immediately reached out and grabbed my throat and pushed me backward." In pleading guilty, Van Buskirk admitted that Abouhassan "did not strike him at all." He also confirmed that all of the doctor's reaction "was in lawful resistance to being assaulted by the accused." Julian Falconer, the lawyer representing Abouhassan, told CBC News that "in the face of denials by this officer and allegations that my client attacked, I think it's essential that the public see this." Abouhassan, who is legally blind, suffered a broken nose, bruised ribs, a torn eyelid and detached retina in the beating. Adding insult to injury, he was subsequently charged with assaulting a peace officer following the initial investigation by Windsor police, including Det.-Sgts. Paul Bridgeman and Patrick Keane. Bridgeman watched the video between eight and 10 times before endorsing assault charges against Abouhassan, according to the office of the independent review director. Both Bridgeman and Keane were charged with discreditable conduct for trying to prevent ...

Caught On Tape Police Beating Motorist In Diabetic Shock!

Adam Greene is on his stomach as a pack of police officers pile on him, driving their knees into his back and wrenching his arms and legs. One officer knees him in the ribs; another kicks him in the face. "Stop resisting," officers on the video yell, but Greene, his face pushed into the pavement, hasn't resisted. He doesn't even move -- maybe can't move -- because he's gone into diabetic shock caused by low blood sugar. The video, recorded more than a year ago by a police car dashboard camera, was released Tuesday by Greene's lawyers. The same night, the Henderson City Council approved a settlement of $158500 for Greene. His wife received $99000 from Henderson, which is just under the minimum amount that requires council approval. Shocking Moment Florida Police Beating 66-Year-Old-Dementia Suffer

This is the shocking moment a police officer launches a vicious assault on a 66-year-old-dementia sufferer. Officer Derek Middendorf then tried to cover his tracks by deleting the recording from his dashcam. But it has been recovered by technicians in Florida, in the US, and now the attorney for victim Albert Flowers told Florida Today that his client was prepared to sue the city of Melbourne. 'He should be fired,' attorney Paul Bross said of Officer Derek Middendorf. 'Anyone who's being pulled over by this officer should be terrified.' 'It's clear (Officer Middendorf) tried to destroy all the video in this case. He thought he had turned off the camera, and that's why he acted the way he did.' The video shows Flowers calmly walking towards the police cruiser before Officer Middendorf suddenly delivers a kick to his groin. Before Flowers is able to get up, the policeman drops to his knees and pounds his fists into Mr Flowers' face. Mr Flowers spent a month in the hospital after the beating. Melbourne City Attorney Paul Gougelman promised to review the video to see if the city had any responsibility to pay for Mr Flowers' health care. 'What I urge everybody to do is stand back and let the dust settle,' Mr Gougelman said. 'There is always more to the story. It's always important to have a good working relationship in the community.' Charges against Flowers were dropped by the Brevard County State Attorney's Office after they learned about his dementia. The video above does not show much of the fight, but you can hear a man's screams and people talking about a Taser. The man being beaten also cries out for his father. On July 5, Fullerton police received reports of someone breaking into cars in the area around the bus depot, according to the LA Times. Thomas sustained severe injuries to the head and neck, as evidenced in the photo here (WARNING: EXTREMELY GRAPHIC). He was hospitalized at UCI Medical Center, when he fell into a coma and died less than a week later. Sabehgi, 32, is the second Iraq war veteran to be hospitalised following involvement in Oakland protests. Another protester, Scott Olsen, suffered a fractured skull on 25 October. "There was a group of police in front of me," he told the Guardian from his hospital bed. "They told me to move, but I was like: 'Move to where?' There was nowhere to move. "Then they lined up in front of me. I was talking to one of them, saying 'Why are you doing this?' when one moved forward and hit me in my arm and legs and back with his baton. Then three or four cops tackled me and arrested me."
