Results Released in Centennial Bridge Officer-Involved Shooting Updated: Sep 16, 2011 12:08 AM More than a month after the police-involved shooting near the base of Centennial Bridge in Davenport, officials release more information on the investigation along with video from police squad cars. It started with a shots fired call in front of the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds the first weekend in August. Both marked and unmarked Davenport squad cars followed a white blazer with four men inside they believed was involved. Police say they set up a road block at the base of Centennial and that's where the blazer eventually became blocked in. Dash camera video shows the driver of the blazer ram into a couple of squad cars. Officials say within a matter of seconds officers had their guns drawn and were yelling at the driver to surrender. Then police say the driver of the blazer cut the wheel toward officers and three of them opened fire. Officers fired a total of six shots, hitting the driver three times and allowing officers to take control of the situation. Police say the driver of the blazer is 18-year-old Michael Cross of Davenport. "In an interview with Mr. Cross he admitted it was his blazer at the scene of the shooting at the fairgrounds. He admitted he knew those were officers trying to apprehend him," said Scott County Attorney Mike Walton. Police say Cross also admitted to being under the influence of alcohol. A search found drugs in the car, but no gun. The incident at ...

HOUSTON — A police officer has shot and wounded a man witnesses say threatened people with a gun near a park where Occupy Houston protesters are encamped. The incident happened about 5 pm Monday in Tranquility Park in downtown Houston. Police spokesman John Cannon said the officer struck the man twice with gunshots, including at least once in the ankle. Cannon says the man was conscious when he was taken away by ambulance. No one else was injured. Occupy participant Tim Jones tells the Houston Chronicle that the witnesses didn't think the gun was real until the man fired into a reflecting pool. Several campers told the newspaper that the man was not part of the movement and that they hadn't seen him before.

Police Shoot and Kill unarmed Elderly Veteran in his own home.

When Kenneth Chamberlain accidentally pressed the button on his medical alert device, he never expected that White Plains police would kick down his door and shoot him dead in his own home. The police kill the old and they kill the young so we must ask ourselves just who are they protecting if every unarmed black man or poor American poses a threat to their lives. The police make up all kinds of excuses when they brutally beat or kill citizens and refuse to show any video or audio evidence of what actually occurred which is suspicious at best. It is time minorities in America come to the reality that we are not free in this country and being hunted on a daily basis by racist police departments throughout the United States. Each year dozens of names are added to the list of unarmed citizens murdered by the police. Departments train their officers to use non-leathal weapons to subdue a suspect but it seems they prefer to just kill the person and call it a day.

TEENS SHOT BY POLICE IN KINGS CROSS

Police shot a boy and a young man in Sydney's Kings Cross this morning after the car they were in drove onto the footpath to escape pursuing officers. Police confirmed a 14-year-old driver and his 18-year-old front-seat passenger were taken to hospital with gunshot injuries after officers fired shots at their car, which was driven onto the footpath of Darlinghurst Road at Potts Point shortly after 4am. The 14-year-old was shot once in the chest and once in the arm, and the 18-year-old was shot once in the neck, police said. Witnesses reported that the Honda Civic sedan, which was later confirmed stolen, entered heavy pedestrian traffic along the footpath and hit a woman, 29, who was taken to hospital with chest injuries. Police said the woman was pinned under the car. Police said four other males, aged between 13 and 24, were in the back seat of the car at the time. They were uninjured and are currently being interviewed. The injured are being treated at St Vincent's Hospital. The boy is in a serious but stable condition, while his passenger's injuries are not life-threatening. The condition of the woman is not known. Assistant Commissioner Mark Murdoch said: "People literally jumped for their lives. "Police pursued that vehicle on the footpath by foot, they attempted to stop the vehicle. "That vehicle struck a female pedestrian. That female pedestrian was pushed under the front of the vehicle. In an attempt to protect that person they (police) discharged a number of ...

POLICE SHOOT TWO YOUNG ABORIGINAL MALES IN SYDNEY

POLICE shot two young males in a Sydney red-light district after they drove a car onto a crowded footpath to avoid pursuing officers this morning. The driver of the car, an indigenous boy of 14, and his 18-year-old passenger were shot while trying to escape officers who had recognised the vehicle and its young occupants. Both were unarmed. Four other males, aged between 13 and 24, were in the back seat of the car at the time. They were unharmed and were today being interviewed by officers at Kings Cross Police Station. The shooting occurred about 4am (AEST) on Darlinghurst Road in Potts Point, near the intersection with Bayswater Road. Police said a stolen Honda Civic sedan struck a female pedestrian and pinned her under the car after it drove onto the footpath. "People literally jumped for their lives," Assistant Commissioner Mark Murdoch told reporters today. "Police pursued that vehicle on the footpath by foot. They attempted to stop the vehicle." The vehicle struck a female pedestrian, who was pushed under the front of the car. Dash Cam Video Of Fatal Police Shoot-Out

Tomah police have released compelling dash cam video of a police-involved shootout. The video shows a dramatic exchange of gunfire. Police say 28-year-old Seth McCloskey got out of his vehicle during a traffic stop with the intent to kill police officers. They exchanged gunfire. McCloskey got back into his vehicle while officers continued to shoot. It's been determined that McCloskey was killed by police fire. The Monroe County District Attorney praised the officers for their actions. He said that the video justifies how they handled the potentially deadly situation. "These officers performed admirably and did their duty. We should all be very proud of what they did," said DA Dan Cary. "Although it was sad that Mr. McCloskey lost his life, these officers did what they needed to do." The Tomah Police Department is still waiting for ballistic results that could tie McCloskey to a drive-by shooting that also happened in Tomah.

Police shooting a man outside of Carl's Jr. in Monterey Park, CA

Police officers shot and killed a man brandishing a three-foot metal bar and smashing windows at a Carl's Jr. in Monterey Park, California Monday morning. And witnesses caught the shooting on video. Monterey Park police officers responded to a report that a man was breaking windows at Carl's Jr. near the intersection of Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue just before 9:30am. When they arrived on the scene, police saw people running from the restaurant as the man exited the fast food chain, armed with the metal bar. When the suspect refused to drop the bar, per police orders, police tased him, to little effect. The suspect came in close proximity to the officers and swung the bar at them twice, according to a LASD release. At this moment, police opened fire. One officer shot the man five times, and a second officer shot the suspect an additional five times as he fell to the pavement.... Did you see him swing at the cops before he was popped? I didn't!!

Facebook campaign "Justice for Cisco" puts pressure on Austin police over dog shooting clicky.me The Austin Police Department is battling what appears to be worldwide outrage after an officer shot and killed a dog in a botched dispatch call. And the outrage is not likely to be tamped down after the release of video and audio of the shooting from the officer's squad car. APD held a press conference Monday to try and explain how the officer, who was dispatched to a domestic disturbance call Saturday in East Austin, ended up shooting a dog named Cisco owned by Michael Paxton. Over 20000 people have joined a Facebook page called "Justice for Cisco" in 24-hours. And the page's followers have been heard loud and clear at Austin Police Department headquarters where they have been fielding what they say are "angry" phone calls all day long.

Police Officer forced to Shoot Suspect

The Beeville Police Department has released video of an officer involved shooting that resulted in the death of 28-year-old Anthony Albert Ponce on May 31, 2011. The police officer had pulled Ponce over in the Beeville Walmart parking lot while checking out a reported robbery at a nearby convenience store. Dashcam video requested by the Beeville Bee-Picayune shows Ponce open his car door and walk up to Sgt. Chris Vasquez with a gun in his hand a cigarette in his mouth. Sgt. Vasquez backed up as he ordered Ponce to drop the weapon. What happened next is out of view of the camera, but you hear three shots fired, and the officer calls for an ambulance. Police say Ponce pointed his weapon at the officer before the shooting. The officer is said to have performed CPR in an attempt to save Ponce's life before paramedics arrived. He later died at Christus Spohn Hospital in Beeville. According to public records, Ponce has a lengthy criminal history that sheds some light on why he may have been so aggressive. In the last six years, Ponce was convicted twice of assault on a public servant, once in Bexar County and once in Harris County. He's also been convicted three times for DWI. Beeville Police Chief Joe Trevino says that officer took the necessary action in this dangerous situation, but says this is a tragic event for everyone at the department. A grand jury cleared Sgt. Vasquez of any charges in the shooting just two days after the incident. .... This comes to show that there ...

Miami Beach Memorial Day Shooting May 30th 2011, cellphone video

Images of last week's fatal police shooting in Miami Beach have been released. Here you see footage recorded on a cell phone by Narces Benoit. The police are surrounding a car driven by Raymond Herisse. Then they started firing at the 22-year-old. Herisse was killed, three officers and four bystanders were injured. Benoit and his girlfriend, Ericka Davis, are accusing authorities of destroying evidence and intimidation. They say the only reason this video is still around because they were able to hide a memory card before authorities smashed the phone that captured this incident. They have hired a lawyer, saying they "want the right thing to be done."
