I, DemonStrate, beat Portal for the PC in under 10 minutes. From when I get out of bed, to the time I drop the final personality core into the furnace, the time is 9:25.567. It is the current world record for Portal completion time. Much of the speedrun is sitting in the elevator. I have not calculated yet how much time I waste waiting for the elevators, but I'm sure it is probably a majority of the time. I segmented the speedrun per map. This means when the game says, "Loading...", it is loading a new map, and I save the game and load from there. The only exceptions are Chambers 02 and 13. This speedrun uses a majority of the glitches in the game. Unfortunately, it does not use the acute angle glitch, which might be the most useful glitch in the game, if used correctly. All other glitches are explained in my series of commentary videos here: www.youtube.com This video is not for the weak of heart. It is very fast and very confusing for someone who doesn't understand the glitches used. I would highly recommend watching the videos above. I don't believe anyone else in their right mind would try to do what I have done in this video. Challenge 18 completed using only 8 portals. This is by far my most complicated run ever. No wall-jumping or anything like that was used, though I did put a hat on a turret at one point. This video has a number of small glitches in it, though nothing is ever omitted other than very small details that I simply forgot to activate Fraps for. The only noteworthy omissions are: At 2 minutes, it looks like I loaded a save file and wound up on the platform adjacent to me. I actually just went through the portal at my feet, so just pretend you saw that and everything will be fine. When I'm arranging the turret at the closed door, I cut out a couple minutes of boring object manipulation. You can see the desired end result perfectly well, it just seems kind of sudden when the turret suddenly is upside-down. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Portal 2 - Insane Cube Tricks (PLEASE READ)... While i'm waiting for the inevitable challenge chambers and leaderboards, i thought i'd set my own challenges to increase the re-playability of Portal 2... ...turns out chucking cubes about was sufficient! I'm trying to get a trick done in every room with cubes and buttons, so if a few of the tricks don't live up to the 'insane' label, it's because there wasn't much scope for it in the chamber. It gets more interesting in chapter 2 (this video contains all chambers with boxes and buttons in chapter 1 & 2). Credit to Transgenic for the trick to release the box in Chamber 07 Credit to logitechSDAZ for the Re-Portaling technique. For the cubic transition and corner wipe, I used Cinema 4D to make the cubes, and exported each side of the cubes seperately as luma mattes for compositing in AE. This is the first Lego animation or "Brickfilm" as some people would call it, ever made, by a genius named "Lindsay Fleay". It was created in Perth, Western Australia between the years of 1985 and 1989! I talked to Lindsay and he gave me permission to upload this to my Youtube channel. Normally I wouldn't upload someone else's work, but I had to spread the word on this classic. Here's the blurb from Lindsay's website: www.rakrent.com "The Magic Portal is a short stop motion film that uses LEGO®, plasticene, cardboard and pixellated live action, made between the years of 1985 and 1989 on good ol' fashioned 16mm film. The story concerns the strange fate of a LEGO astronaut called L, who discovers the Magic Portal on board his giant spaceship. The Portal takes him to a strange and surreal LEGO world where he has a close encounter with a Monster and barely escapes with his life. His report to Captain Paranoia only gets him to trouble and his friend and shipmate P, doesn't believe him. However, the Portal has a mind of its own, and reappears to upset the cosy world of the giant spaceship and its crew to reveal weirder worlds more peculiar than the last..."
