This is a scene from "Pumping iron". Franco Columbu (my favourite bodybuilder) posing at the prejudging! Franco Columbu was born in Ollolai, Sardinia. Starting out his athletic career as a boxer, Columbu progressed into the sport of Olympic Weightlifting, powerlifting and later bodybuilding, winning the title of Mr. Olympia in 1976 and 1981. He holds doctorates in chiropractic and nutrition and currently sits on the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Some other info: In 1977, Columbu broke his left leg while grappling with a refrigerator during the Worlds Strongest Man contest. However, this Sardinian refused to be canned with phenomenal fortitude, he began a rehab program using his skills as a chiropractor and, after Schwarzeneggers 1980 IFBB Mr. Olympia comeback victory in Sydney, Columbu made his own comeback by taking the 1981 IFBB Mr. Olympia title. It would be his final competition. Columbu zoomed fast-forward along the pioneers path that Jack Delinger braved for shorter men in the 1940s. Known for his incredible deadlift ability and for the horizontal crease in his pecs, Columbu transferred the knockout punch he perfected in his boxing days in Italy to the dais of muscle and became a bodybuilder who, by anybodys standards, looked strong. Columbu has appeared in movies, written some training books, has his own website, and is CEO of Eclipse Entertainment Group Inc. Muscle Model James Alexander-Ellis prepares to go on stage by practicing a type of posing suited to his category. In bodybuilding, posing tends to be based around a set of classic poses which are designed to show off the size, symmetry and hardness of all the key body parts. 'Muscle Model' is an intermediate category somewhere between bodybuilding and fitness model. So, rather than 'front double biceps' and 'rear lat spread', the Muscle Model is encouraged to look more relaxed and natural, while still displaying overall muscularity. (And Muscle Models also smile !) The category is starting to appear at more and more competitions, for example at the forthcoming Miami Pro event in the UK in which James is competing. Erin Manning's Top 5 Posing and Directing Photo Tips Some people are really uncomfortable in front of the camera—they aren't sure what they're supposed to do, and they're afraid they'll look bad. This can result in stiff, unnatural looking photographs. It's your job as the photographer to help your subjects feel comfortable and relax. You can do this by talking, interacting, giving them direction and encouragement. When you are photographing people, you are in a relationship, whether it lasts for a few minutes, a few hours, or a lifetime. Following are five tips that can help you direct your subject and capture natural-looking portraits. Tip 1 Have your subjects make a three-quarter turn to camera and shift their weight to the back leg. This position gives the body shape, dimension and makes them look slimmer. Tip 2 Create a sense of movement in your photograph. Direct your subjects to shift their weight back and forth from one foot to the other. Tip 3 Most people are uncomfortable in front of the camera. Help them out by giving them direction. Tell them they look great, give them feedback and interact. The positive energy will show in your photographs. Tip 4 A real expression is always better than a fake one. To alleviate a frozen, unnatural smile, try my Pufferfish technique for relaxing your subjects face. Do it together! Puff out your cheeks, hold, then blow it out. This exercise relaxes your face, and the goofy look is enough to make anyone laugh. Tip 5 Portraits are <b>...</b>
