I did the whole process in one video so you won't have to watch several different ones for each different bit,like throwing the body,pulling handles making the spout trimming , making the lid etc etc. Believe it or not this is actually my first attempt at throwing a tea pot as my dad does all that kind of stuff. I've seen clay being fashioned into pottery on TV several times. This was my first live demo. We saw this in a place called Kumarakom by a local potter. It was much more breathtaking seeing the real thing! It took about 10 minutes to transform the ugly lump of clay into beautiful pottery - deft touches of his hand, careful molding, a flick of his wrist and the transformation was complete. Each touch made it more complete and more beautiful. I couldnt help but think of the bible verse Isaiah 64:8 Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. Making Black Pottery
Black pottery gets the smooth ebony finish from its special firing process. The fuel is mixed with pigment; and the clay absorbs the color from the smoke during the firing. Traditionally, all the engravings are carved before the firing. Our artisans have also invented a new method that engraves designs on the surface after the item is fired. The color gets lighter as the artist etches deeper. So the final coloring has levels of yellow and gray, as well as black. Black pottery originated during the Neolithic period (12000 BC) in China; and this method was perfected by the Long Shan Culture (3000 BC) The earliest works of Black Pottery are water pots and vessels of ancient worship. Then it became the house-hold wares for daily life of the royal families.

BBC Televison - Interlude Film - Potters Wheel
Interlude films were used to "fill-in" gaps in the television schedule, either when there was a technical breakdown (valve technology was prone to breakdown frequently), or, in the early days of post-war television, to allow changes between studios. The most famous Interlude Film of them all "The Potter's Wheel". The potter, who's hands we see, was George Aubertin. Two pieces of music were used for this interlude film: 1. The Young Ballerina (Charles Williams) - - QHLO-Williams (Chappell C 400) 2. This is a response for a request from one of my viewers to replicate what he does in his pottery class. The aim is to throw the tallest cylinder from 3 pounds of clay in 3 minutes and 5 pounds of clay in 5 minutes. The clay must be stoneware and be wide enough to put your hand right down to the base. Well here's my first attempt at both weights,pretty ugly looking throwing but it's a good practice routine for throwing so you can see how much better you are getting at throwing thinner over time.I could have made a better effort though...

How to Arrange Flowers in Style | Pottery Barn
Flower arrangements can be smartly displayed to define the style of the house. In this video, Pottery Barn design expert, Courtney demonstrates how to create flower arrangements for consoles, centerpieces and the side tables. To make these arrangements, Courtney uses flower vases of different shapes and sizes. According to her, tall and wide flower vases help in creating a dramatic and glamorous mood for the hallways. To create table centerpiece flower arrangements, she chooses flower vases with low height so the guests can comfortably see across the table. A hallway flower arrangement can be prepared using peonies, hydrangeas and bells of Ireland. For the centerpiece flower arrangement, Courtney uses different flowers of the same color. For bed side table, she uses geranium leaves and pliable curly willow to make flower arrangements that appear extremely decorative.
