The Minecraft community is abuzz as the Minecraft pre-release version of 1.8 was "leaked" and everyone is scrambling to try out the new features! There are plenty of videos already out there that give great overviews of all the new features, but I haven't seen anyone test what happens when you load a 1.7 world save in 1.8. This is, obviously, of great importance to be because I would like to continue using my Far Lands or Bust world, where I'm doing nothing but traveling towards newly generated land. As you'll see in the video, my results are mixed. Yes, you can indeed load and play in your 1.7 worlds just fine, however nothing will change in land you've already generated. Once I travel outside of this area and into newly generating 1.8 chunks, it unfortunately appears to spawn nothing but endless ocean. I have tested this in other 1.7 worlds and get the same result, however when I create a brand new 1.8 world the terrain generation is fine. I am hoping this is a temporary bug with the 1.8 pre-release and is something Mojang has addressed for the full release due next week. Here's how to get and install the 1.8 pre-release: www.minecraftforum.net Thanks for watching! Like, favorite, subscribe and let me know what you think in the comments!
