Let us now bullet-point our praise for Mark Dytham and Astrid Klein, two Tokyo-based architects who have turned PowerPoint, that fixture of cubicle life, into both art form and competitive sport. Their innovation, dubbed pecha-kucha (Japanese for "chatter"), applies a simple set of rules to presentations: exactly 20 slides displayed for 20 seconds each. That's it. Say what you need to say in six minutes and 40 seconds of exquisitely matched words and images and then sit the hell down. The result, in the hands of masters of the form, combines business meeting and poetry slam to transform corporate clich into surprisingly compelling beat-the-clock performance art. The duo — Dytham is British, Klein Italian — invented pecha-kucha four years ago to help revive a struggling performance space they owned. The first presentations were such a hit that they began hosting monthly pecha-kucha events, boozy affairs at which Tokyo architects and designers showcased their streamlined offerings to crowds of hundreds. Now there are pecha-nights in 80 cities, from Amsterdam and Atlanta to San Francisco and Shanghai. Why? Dytham believes that the rules have a liberating effect. "Suddenly," he says, "there's no preciousness in people's presentations." Just poetry. By Dan Pink | Wired Magazine Issue 15.09

Eye contact is the most effective presentation skill to reduce your nervousness. www.Power-Presentations.com The best way for you to implement eye contact is to connect with one person for a sustained thought. That would be from the beginning of a sentence, until there's punctuation like a comma or a period. When you finish the sentence, you'll want to move your eyes to another person and repeat the process. Holding eye contact is the best way for you to 1. Gather your thoughts 2. Think clearly 3. Remember what to say Eye contact is the number one effective communication skill that we teach. The goal is to connect with individuals in the room. Whether there are 10 people, 100 people, or 300 people, you've got to have eyeball to eyeball connection with individuals in the room. Making eye contact with individuals in the room solves a lot of problems. It's going to slow your speaking pace down, reduce non-words, and help you maintain your train of thought. In this video, you will see Sheri Jeavons coach real business professionals and find out how you can implement this critical skill into your presentation style. Edit: Featured on Equestria Daily, the largest and most successful MLP:FiM blog this side of the internet: www.equestriadaily.com So, for the first semester of college (in Australia college is like super-high school), one of our first assessment items for English was an oral presentation on whatever we wanted. We were allowed to have a sheet of paper with up to 500 words of dot-points and notes, and visual aids such as the PowerPoint presentation in the video. Since I couldn't think of anything besides trying to analyse the deep metaphors and themes of Scott Pilgrim, which isn't a thing I really like to do, I decided to swallow my pride and do mine on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. But instead of talking about my favourite pony for 10 minutes like the earlier presentations, I tried to explain why all these grown adults were watching the show, and why it was so appealing. Unfortunately, I'm a lazy bastard, and as such procrastinated until about two days 'til it was due. This meant that I hadn't practiced it AT ALL before doing so, although obviously with there being a PowerPoint I had a rough idea of what to talk about when. I also wasn't allowed to record it, but a friend of mine managed to secretly record the whole thing on his mobile, which (for a mobile) wasn't that bad, although he could have chosen a better angle or something. I don't know what my marks were for this presentation yet, I'll probably change the description with my results when I get them ...

TEDxEast INTERCONNECTIVITY - 11.11.10: -Nancy Duarte- That Resonates with Me! Why are some presentations spellbinding and some not? Well, this is the question Nancy Duarte takes on as she shares with the audience the secret of an excellent presentation. In this fascinating talk Nancy Duarte explains the model that she developed for designing transformative presentations. She explains the essential qualities of an excellent presentation by analyzing the speeches of Martin Luther King and Steve Jobs. She reminds us that the only way to spread important ideas is to make sure that one is communicating his or her ideas effectively using strong presentation skills. About TEDx, x=independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self- organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.*

To speak on stage all you need is a story. In this week's episode of the Ignite Show, Scott Berkun, best-selling author and speaker, shares tips and tricks for finding those stories. 1) You must have Firefox 2) Open up two tabs (One with your presentation editor, the other with any source, eg Stardoll page or Witty profiles etc...you can also use word, but i would use the 2007 one, its better and you can make your own backgrounds) 3) Highlight want you want off of the page 4) DRAG it to your presentation editor tab

Know the needs of your audience and match your contents to their needs. Know your material thoroughly. Put what you have to say in a logical sequence. Ensure your speech will be captivating to your audience as well as worth their time and attention. Practice and rehearse your speech at home or where you can be at ease and comfortable, in front of a mirror, your family, friends or colleagues. Use a tape-recorder and listen to yourself. Videotape your presentation and analyze it. Know what your strong and weak points are. Emphasize your strong points during your presentation. When you are presenting in front of an audience, you are performing as an actor is on stage. How you are being perceived is very important. Dress appropriately for the occasion. Be solemn if your topic is serious. Present the desired image to your audience. Look pleasant, enthusiastic, confident, proud, but not arrogant. Remain calm. Appear relaxed, even if you feel nervous. Speak slowly, enunciate clearly, and show appropriate emotion and feeling relating to your topic. Establish rapport with your audience. Speak to the person farthest away from you to ensure your voice is loud enough to project to the back of the room. Vary the tone of your voice and dramatize if necessary. If a microphone is available, adjust and adapt your voice accordingly. More information at: 5business.arondeau2.hop.clickbank.net
