Video of Czech president Klaus 'stealing' pen during Chile ceremony

Two cheeky Czechs have launched a campaign aimed at gathering writing implements for the country's President Václav Klaus. In doing so, they express their support to the leader, who has recently found himself in an embarrassing situation. Vaclav Klaus was captured on video stealing a protocol pen during his official meeting with his Chilean counterpart Sebastián Piñera on Tuesday. The story caused a stir in the Czech Republic. Czech television broadcast the video with red circles and arrows highlighting the pen. A spokesman for Klaus on Tuesday dismissed the media storm caused by the video, saying the pen was "a common pen with a logo of the state or office, which presidents and members of their delegation receive during state visits". In fact, the pens are encrusted with semi-precious Chilean lapiz lazuili stones. However, a Pinera spokeswoman said the president's guests were free to take them.

The Other 9/11 - Chile - Coup d'état - September 11, 1973

On September 11, 1973 a military coup was started by General Augusto Pinochet that ousted the democratically elected President Salvador Allende of Chile. Allende's was the first democratically elected Marxist government in the world. This documentary produced by BBC Four is a chronicle of the event from witnesses and archive footage. A chilling and moving account of the day by perpetrators, as well as those at receiving end, who survived to tell this story of a defining moment in Chile's history. It changed Chile forever. It is the only full length (almost 1 hour) documentary in English on it. Also, it is the only documentary that takes into account both sides of the story.

USA overthrows Democratic Communists in Chile

1973 Chilean coup d'état en.wikipedia.org The 1973 Chilean coup d'état was a watershed event of the Cold War and the history of Chile. On Tuesday 11 September 1973, the democratically elected President Salvador Allende was overthrown in a coup d'état organised by the Chilean military and endorsed by the United States. A military junta took control of the government, composed of the heads of the Air Force, Navy, Carabineros (police force) and the Army led by General Augusto Pinochet. Pinochet later assumed power and ended Allende's democratically elected Popular Unity government. During the air raids and ground attacks that preceded the coup, Allende gave his last speech where he vowed to stay in the presidential palace. Direct witness accounts of his death agree that he committed suicide in the presidential palace. After the coup Pinochet established a military dictatorship that ruled Chile until 1990 and which was marked by severe human rights violations. A weak insurgence movement against the Pinochet government was maintained inside Chile by elements sympathetic to the former Allende government.

Chile - Rioting Injures 50 - Police Fail ?

Chile - Rioting Injures 50 - Mostly Police Injured Disturbances surrounding the commemoration of the 38th anniversary of "Chile's 9/11" - a bloody military coup that launched 17 years of repression - left more than 50 people hurt and resulted in 280 arrests, authorities said Monday. More than 40 of those hurt are police, among them Sgt. Jose Soto Yañez, who sustained a serious eye injury from a hurled stone, and Lt. Cesar Muñoz Jara, who was hit by more than 40 shotgun pellets fired by masked protesters. The deputy interior minister, Rodrigo Ubilla, said that the disturbances lasted into the wee hours of Monday in different parts of the capital, where a hospital and some 147000 homes were without electric power due to blackouts caused by the demonstrators. In the municipal capital of El Bosque, 15-year-old Javiera Molina Araya was hit in the torso by a bullet while he was protesting near a bonfire lighted on a street by a group of local residents. The teenager was taken to the Barros Luco hospital in Santiago, where doctors reported Monday that his life is in danger. Ubilla said that in Santiago there were 350 "foci of violence." The official issued a call to all political and social sectors to condemn such violent protest activity. He added that protesters burned about half a dozen vehicles, including a bus, in the disturbances during which they also set up burning street blockades, carried out some looting and launched attacks with gunfire and stones, among other ...

Chile War Zone - Police Brutality Rampant

Theres A War In Chile For Education - Police Brutality Rampant Full Credit to: www.youtube.com The ongoing student demonstrations in Chile began as a protest over the costs, profits, and fairness of higher education there. They have since attracted other segments of Chilean society venting frustration over wages, health care, and other issues. Uniting the protesters is common dissatisfaction with hugely unpopular President Sebastian Pinera and social inequality. Workers joined a 48-hour general strike in August which, like many demonstrations during the course of the protests, was met with police using tear gas and water cannons on the participants. With changes in the education system still unsettled, the student protests are likely to continue. Chileans yesterday celebrated their national independence day. Chile police clash with student protesters

At least 25000 university student protesters have marched through the streets of Santiago, Chile's capital, calling for reforms in education, local news reported. Police fired water cannons to disperse demonstrators, after some students broke through police barricades and others hurled stones at anti-riot officers. Fifteen people were arrested, according to authorities. The students have been pushing the government for years to boost funding in a country with among the highest university fees in the world. Chilean university students receive only 15 percent state funding, the lowest of all countries part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. When taking into consideration the average family income in Chile, university fees are nearly three times higher than the United States, Japan, and Australia. Chile's president Sebastian Pinera has promised more scholarships and said that debt for 100000 poor students would be recalculated, amongst other reforms, but student leaders say it is not enough. "Today we are calling for the recovery of public education, equal access to education, quality, greater financing in the sector and, as always, regulation of the private sector and with greater involvement of the state to improve education to stop putting thousands and thousands of families into debt. We want greater participation from students, workers and teachers in the decisions being made at the universities," Catholic University Student Federation ...

The Anti Nwo Masks Day: La Moneda conoce a la élite y sus sirvientes

The Chilean Resistance exposes the New World Order master plan by playing their most notorious proponents, such as David Rockefeller and Zbigniew Brzezinski. The speeches has been constructed by many of the elite's own public facts, books and statements. This creative protest was conducted in front of La Moneda, the main Chilean government building, by activists from the informative Anti Nwo movement "Verdad Ahora". The topics include Rockefeller's support to Ricardo Lagos, former Chilean president and his coalition Concertación; the acquisition of large territories in the south of Chile and Argentina under the ecologic cover; eugenics, and more. Also featuring between the masks is Bill Gates, John P. Holdren, Henry Kissinger, Ted Turner, and Minister of Interior of Chile, Rodrigo Hinzpeter K., who was involved in an apparent false-flag event last year, following the global attempts to erode civil liberties in the name of fighting an invisible threat. www.VerdadAhora.cl Spanish article verdadahora.cl

Trapped Chilean Miners Receive Help, Hope

Thirty three Chilean miners trapped underground receive supplies, medication, and even a call from Chile's president. Rescue workers and family members of the 33 Chilean miners trapped underground are confident that all the men will make it out alive. Engineers continue to send hydration gel and medication through a narrow bore hole. They have even dropped an intercom down to the trapped miners. Maria Segovia, the sister of one of the trapped miners, is praying that they remain safe. [Maria Segovia, Siser of Trapped Miner]: "We hope that God continues to save as many lives as he has saved so far. We've managed to get deeper into the mine which allows for more communication with the men, including my brother and everyone else." After a section of mine collapsed, the miners took refuge in an area the size of a small apartment, some 4.5 miles into the mine. Tanks of water and ventilation have helped the men survive. Before the help arrived they rationed out the provisions they had; two mouthfuls of tuna and half a glass of milk every 48 hours. But things are looking up now that rescuers on the surface have made contact with the group. They even received a call from Chile's president, who told the miners that their struggle had united the Chilean people. [Sebastian Pinera, President of Chile]: "Don Luis, I know it's been hell. But it's a hell that's meant a resurrection of spirit and strength to our country. You've given us an example that I, President of Chile, appreciate ...
