NBC News Decision 1980 Reagan Wins

NBC news projects at about 8:15 PM that Ronald Reagan is elected President. The early NBC projections sparked controversies inside and outside the media. A mayor protested that it "effectively ended the races even before the polls in her area are closed." A CBS commentator called it "small beer." ABC was caught under pressure and Walter Cronkite was forced to explain to viewers what was happening. Also, this was the first time that exit polls were used by a network as the sole basis for projecting a winner for a state. Later on, David Brinkley will call it a "suburban swimming pool," while others call it "Lake Reagan." And of course, NBC News team was more than happy to have that win as the earliest network to announce a winner at the time they are facing problems with Chancellor being defeated by Reynolds and Cronkite. Also, America saw three generations of NBC anchormen. David Brinkley of Huntley-Brinkley Report fame, his successor (and sometimes co-anchor) John Chancellor, and in turn Chancellor's successor Tom Brokaw (who was then announcing the Today show).

Presidential Election Rally Aug 23 TJS - The Masses | Toa Payoh Stadium | Singapore PE 2011

Would that be any possiblity that this's the last EP (Elected President) to be elected in Singapore History due to whatever reasons? And would not be any more one-person-one-vote Presidential Election? Could be the only chance for electorates (seond chance in 18 years for some electorates) to elect a President. If this were the scenario, don't you think that your vote (every vote matters of course) is as imporant if not more important than the May General Election this year? Vote wisely, AND vote strategically for the interests of Singapore and Singaporeans. The rest of my views - watch TCB and TKL rally to complete my entire views of this PE. [Add on 2011.08.28 8am] My prediction of less than 1% winning margin or 10000 votes is right. Majulah Singapura! News: Nomination Day for Singapore's Presidential Election - 17Aug2011

SINGAPORE: Singaporeans will go to the polls to elect a new President on August 27. It will be a four-cornered fight between medical doctor Tan Cheng Bock, investment adviser Tan Jee Say, and directors Tony Tan and Tan Kin Lian. They were confirmed on Wednesday as candidates in the Presidential race after no objections were raised at the close of nominations. Mr Tan Jee Say, 57, said the primary purpose of the Elected President is to provide checks and balances. Dr Tony Tan, 71, said the Presidential Election is different from the General Election and that the President must be above politics. Mr Tan Kin Lian, 63, said his campaign slogan is to be the "Voice of the People" and urged Singaporeans to support him. Race a factor in US presidential election - 19 May 08

The US state of Kentucky has a large white working class population similar to the state of West Virginia, which Hilary Clinton won overwhelmingly last week. In both states there's polling evidence to suggest that at least some voters are not prepared to vote for a black candidate. Al Jazeera's Mike Kirsch travelled to rural Kentucky where he found that for some old prejudices die hard.

Iran Presidential Elections: Khamenei Music Video

The dictatorship regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran, took away the last remaining right of it's people, the right to vote, by rigging the 2009 presidential election in favor of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. By doing so, the regime lead by supreme leader Ali Khamenei, hoped to silence the last remaining opposition, and complete their grand scheme of creating an Islamic state and total control over all matters. However, this 'coup' failed as the courageous people of Iran took to the streets to let the world know what is happening and make their cries for justice and basic rights be heard throughout the globe. Once again, a dictatorship has failed to tame the brave and free people of Iran. The Islamic regime has lost all credibility. This is the beginning of the end for this corrupt, backward and violent regime.

In his acceptance speech, US president-elect Barack Obama told supporters that his election was a "defining moment, change has come to America". "If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is the place where all things are possible... tonight is your answer," he said.
