Prodrift Ireland - Round 4 @ Mondello

Round 4 of the Prodrift Ireland series seen the annual visit to Mondello Park, Ireland's premiere race track. Despite the damp weekend we where greeted with it, it was still an exceptional event. There were a few surprises also during the weekend. Martin O'Meara in his S15 broke into the bigtime for the first time with some exceptional steering and being easily one of the most consistant drivers during the weekend in what where very difficult conditions. Another surprise was the early exit of Nigel Colfer in the Top 16 battles whilst battling Dan Moorhead who had only got his S13 finished a handful of days before hand. Trying too hard he ended up touching Dan's S13 through the first transition scoring him a zero and unfortunately he was out. Moving onto the top 4 cars some really close battles where had. Formula D pilot Eric O'Sullivan beat his fellow AE86 and Hankook tyres team mate Alan Sinnott to progress to the final. In the other Semi-final a re-match of the CityWest Final was taking place between the brothers Deane. Mike having to give way to younger brother James who is just on fire at the moment (incidentally James had an excellent weekend at Formula D in Sonoma driving for the Falken team in a S15) The final seen Eric O'Sullivan take on James Deane - the final was horrendously close between the two drivers and they had to go OMT but unfortunately for James his gearbox had had enough on the last run handing the win to Eric.
