FCPX Advanced Training Series Part 1. In this HD Voice Tutorial for Apple Final Cut Pro 10, we learn how to create a muzzle flash inside of FCPX using only the built in tools (Effects / Generators). We use a shape generator and apply some cool crops and secondary color / colour corrections to create realistic simulated blowback as well as as ambient light reflections with masks as means to isolate and specify areas that will react to the gun muzzle flash. We also make great use of compound clips as a way of getting better results when using the effects on our custom elements. Whats great is that you don't have to send a clip to a third party compositing application like Adobe After Effects, you can do it all right in FCP TEN without leaving the program. And then when your done with the effect you can turn it into a compound clip so use it as a single piece of media in the timeline: Which is still editable and accessible without breaking apart the clip item! SALE TODAY: Learn Piano on iOS bit.ly The previous versions of Final Cut Pro did not allow users to export their edited movies directly to a DVD. These older versions required users to export a video of their edited movie, and then burn that video to a DVD using a program such as iDVD or DVD Studio Pro. But now, with Final Cut Pro X, you can export your movie directly to a DVD in a very basic way. To begin, navigate to the top menu bar and click Share -- DVD. This will bring up the Create DVD dialog box with a few options to choose from. You can choose the Output device, which could be a DVD drive or a hard drive, a Single-layer or a Dual-layer burn, the Disk template, which could either be a black background or a white background, and the Title. You can also choose what you want to happen when the disc loads. Under the Advanced tab, you can set up Background Rendering or Send your video to Compressor, which allows you to take your footage and turn it into a much smaller sized file without losing much video quality. Finally, Summary tells you everything you need to know about your video, such as the File Type, Estimated size and Width and Height. You'll also see the video's Pixel aspect ratio and Frame rate as well. When you're ready, click Burn. Final Cut Pro X will begin rendering the video to prepare it for burning to a DVD. When you're done creating a video, you can use the direct upload option within Final Cut Pro X to share it on Facebook, Vimeo, YouTube and CNN iReport. All Apple devices are also available as options to export to directly within Final Cut Pro X. The main feature you're going to use if you want to export your video without any changes to the video itself is Export Movie. To do so, navigate to the top menu bar and click Share -- Export Movie. Once you click that, you'll see the Export QuickTime Movie dialog box. Here, you can choose between a few different settings. Under the Options tab, you can choose how you wish to Export your video. Would you like to keep your Current Settings, or would you like to choose another setting that's available from the drop down menu? You can export to various Apple ProRes formats or to H.264, which is the best format to export to for viewing on a DVD or Blu-Ray disc. You also have a few options to choose from regarding HD resolution. Then, you can choose what you want to happen after Final Cut Pro X is finished exporting the file. Sample footage was shot on a Panasonic GH1 with hacked firmware and a Lumix 20mm lens. There is no hardware based stabilization with this camera system. Sample footage is 720p, 60 FPS, 250Hz shutter speed. Captured in AVCHD, converted to ProRes, and final output in H.264.
