The DSM: Psychiatry's Deadliest Scam

It's psychiatry's best-selling catalog of mental illness — 943 pages long and covering everything from depression and anxiety to stuttering, cigarette addiction, fear of spiders, nightmares, problems with math and even disorder of infancy — all reinterpreted and labeled as a brain disease. And though it weighs less than five pounds, its influence pervades all aspects of modern society: our governments, our courts, our military, our media and our schools. Using it, psychiatrists can enforce psychiatric drugging, seize your children and even take away your most precious personal freedoms. It is psychiatry's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, and it is the engine that drives a $330 billion psychiatric industry. But is there any proof behind the DSM? Or is it nothing more than an elaborate pseudoscientific sham? * * * * * * * I am not affiliated with the producers of this video. The Psychiatric Drugging of US Soldiers

(NaturalNews) The recent massacre of 16 civilians in Afghanistan by a rampaging US military sergeant has something in common with nearly every school shooting in the USA -- something the mainstream media typically refuses to report: These shooters frequently have a history of psychiatric drug "treatment" by psychiatrists. Psychiatric drugs are now being routinely used across the US military, where violent suicides have skyrocketed to levels never before seen in human history. 18 veterans commit suicide every day, says this NaturalNews article reprinted on CCHR: www.cchrint.org The story reports: Prior to the Iraq war, American soldiers in combat zones did not take psychiatric medications, according to PBS Frontline documentary The Wounded Platoon, which aired in May 2010. (www.pbs.org But by the time of the 2007 surge more than 20000 of our deployed troops were taking antidepressants and sleeping pills. These drugs allowed soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder to remain in combat when they otherwise could not. "What I use medications for is to treat very specific side effects," said Army psychiatrist Col. George Brandt. "I don't want somebody in a helpless mode in a combat environment. I want to make sure I don't have someone with suicidal thoughts where everyone is armed." Learn more: www.naturalnews.com [Infographic by the Health Ranger] www.naturalnews.com

SSRLies music video - 2012 edition - exposes the psychiatric drugging of children

This is the new 2012 music video for SSRLies, a song first written by Michael Adams (Amethios) in 2009. Adams, the editor of NaturalNews.com, wrote and performed the lyrics of the song. He was awarded the "Human Rights Award" by CCHR in 2010 for his work exposing the fraud behind psychiatry and the drugging of children. This music video exposes the truth behind psychiatric drugs, and it promotes the information of Peter Breggin (www.Breggin.com) as well as InfoWars, NaturalNews and others. SSRI antidepressant drugs have been implicated in school shootings, murder-suicides, military massacres and other violent acts of death and destruction. Even though the song focuses on antidepressants, many children today are drugged with Ritalin and other "speed" amphetamine drugs which are also mentioned in the song. Psychiatric Interviews for Teaching: Psychosis

In this film, an on-call psychiatrist is assessing a young man who has been referred urgently by his GP. The psychiatrist takes a history in which she elicits persecutory delusions, third person auditory hallucinations, running commentary, thought insertion, and somatic hallucinations. She then makes a risk assessment, takes a drug history and assesses risk. The patient is clearly suffering from a psychotic disorder and the most likely diagnosis is schizophrenia. Differential diagnoses would include a drug-induced psychosis.

Psychiatry: An Industry of Death (FULL VERSION)

Full credit for this video goes to CCHR. I have no connection with Scientology, religious or otherwise. I am however a former victim of criminal psychiatric practices. When I stumbled upon a museum in Hollywood California named: Psychiatry, An industry of death, I was of course very intrigued. The staff were very patient and helpful. They were eager to answer any questions people had. When I found out that thorozine could be one of the causes for my tourette's syndrome I could feel the anger rising inside of me. Thinking back to the mental "hospitals" I was forced to stay in. I was locked in my room on a 24 hour a day basis and if I said or did anything that could possibly be taken as less then submissive and obedient I was taken to the "seclusion room" (which is kind of fucked seeing as how I was in 24 hour a day seclusion anyways) and put in 4 point restraints, injected with liquid thorozine directly into my neck. When I was allowed passes to go home for the day with my mom, I was too tired to do anything with my family, I just wanted to sit in the chair and sleep, I remember thinking what is the point of being ALLOWED to come home for the day if I am just going to sit here sleeping? I can do this just as well back at the hospital. When I went back that night I told the nurses that I wanted different medication, this started the chemical cocktail experience that would be my life for more than another YEAR. Psychology vs. Psychiatry

Be My Friend - www.myspace.com Dr. John Breeding, Ph.D. psychologist discusses the difference between psychiatry and psychology. Psychiatry focuses on medical or physical interventions such as drugs, electroshock therapy, deep brain stimulation by electrode, psychosurgery, etc. This is the model of biological psychiatry. Behavior problems are considered to be actual medical illnesses with physical causes despite the fact that after over 100 years of attempts to identify a physical cause for mental illness, there are still none. Often time people are given antidepressants like Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Luvox, Celexa, Lexapro, Effexor or Wellbutrin. SSRI (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) are often promoted as correcting chemical imbalances in the brain but there is no proof that depression or mental illness is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain nor is there any proof that antidepressants correct an imbalance. These medications often time have horrible side effects like agitation and sexual dysfunction. Psychology by contrast acknowledges the potential of behavior problems being learned responses which can be corrected with therapy and communication, education and understanding. There are no cures in psychiatry. Psychiatric medications only suppress or inhibit symptoms of behavior problems. This creates long term mental health consumers who take expensive drugs but never fully recover from their difficulties. Visit Dr. Breedings website at www.wildestcolts.com ...

CCHR: What's Wrong with Psychiatry? A Psychiatrist Explains...

Dr. Niall McLaren, an Australian practicing psychiatrist for 22 years, explains what is wrong with the psychiatric profession: That it cannot/will not take criticism, for fear the entire model of biological psychiatry will unravel. That there is no science to psychiatric diagnoses, no brain based diseases. And that psychiatry only pushes mental disorders as biological disease in order to convince people to take psychiatric drugs, causing a host of dangerous side effects. Psychiatry, is a pseudo-science - The Rosenhan Experiment - THUD, THUD

The Rosenhan experiment was a famous experiment into the validity of psychiatric diagnosis conducted by psychologist David Rosenhan in 1973. It was published in the journal Science under the title "On being sane in insane places. The study is considered an important and influential criticism of psychiatric diagnosis. Rosenhan's study was done in two parts. The first part involved the use of healthy associates or "pseudo patients" (three women and five men) who briefly simulated auditory hallucinations in an attempt to gain admission to 12 different psychiatric hospitals in five different states in various locations in the United States. All were admitted and diagnosed with psychiatric disorders. After admission, the pseudo-patients acted normally and told staff that they felt fine and had not experienced any more hallucinations. Hospital staff failed to detect a single pseudo-patient, and instead believed that all of the pseudopatients exhibited symptoms of ongoing mental illness. Several were confined for months. All were forced to admit to having a mental illness and agree to take antipsychotic drugs as a condition of their release. The second part involved an offended hospital challenging Rosenhan to send pseudo-patients to its facility, whom its staff would then detect. Rosenhan agreed, but sent no pseudopatients. Yet, out of 195 new patients in the following weeks, the staff identified 42 ordinary patients as impostors and suspected 48 more. The study concluded, "It ...

Thomas Szasz on Psychiatry and Religion

Thomas Szasz is a psychiatrist and author well known for his criticism of the modern psychiatry movement. He has consistently sought to apply classical liberal principles (such as bodily and mental self ownership) to social science and also explored the consequences of mandatory institutionalization of persons the state deemed to be insane. In his book, The Myth of Mental Illness (1960), Szasz claims that psychiatry ultimately robs people of the responsibility of being moral agents by obscuring the difference between socially unacceptable behavior and disease. In this lecture, given at the National Libertarian Party's Nominating Convention in 1983, Szasz compares the influence of psychiatry on the public with the influence of religion on the public (usually with the backing of the respective king or government body) during the Middle Ages. Szasz points out that the state's tendency to use science as a justification for trampling the rights of individuals today is much like the state's tendency to use religious justifications to trample the rights of individuals in days past. Szasz once wrote in 1974: "Since theocracy is the rule of God or its priests, and democracy the rule of the people or of the majority, pharmacracy is therefore the rule of medicine or of doctors."
