You gotta see it to believe it! They have "kid projects" all the way up to air cannons that deploy the orange payload up to a mile and beyond. We follow two brothers Sharif 14 and Zakary 9 in their quest for a win in the youth trebuchet category. The Punkin' Chunkin' takes place in Millsboro Delaware, next to Rehoboth Beach. Is this good like pumpkin pie or scary like Halloween? Is it a trick or a treat? Tune in and find out! Partial Transcript: "On Tap -- Punkin Ale Hi. I'm James Knott and today we are drinking Punkin Ale from the Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton, Delaware. This beer Dogfish Head's top-selling seasonal release. It has been brewed every fall since 1994 -- before the brewery was even open for business. You can find it around September 1st each year and the brewery claims that it is usually sold out before Thanksgiving. This beer is 7% Alcohol by volume and 28 International Bitterness Units. The brewery describes it as "a full-bodied brown ale brewed with real pumpkin, brown sugar, allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg." Pay attention to the alcohol because some of it comes from the fermentation of the organic, brown sugar. Real pumpkin meat is added to the beer during the mash process. Q&A -- Does this have more or less pumpkin flavor than you were expecting? Are the spices prominent in the flavor? Does this remind you of pumpkin pie? Punkin Ale gets a (???) on the BBA scale. I'm on Team Destrier, and this is my cousin's chunker, Groundhog Trap. Punkin Chunkin is a competition in which entrants build complex machines in order to see who can "chunk" a pumpkin the furthest. Groundhog Trap is a machine in the human powered division. Human powered machines must rely on one person's energy in a two minute time limit to input power into their machine, which are usually powered by weights, springs, or rubber bands.

With dirt clog laden, banged-up punk rock that makes me feel deja vu for the early days of Jawbreaker and Lookout bands galore, Punkin' Pie nets a delicious profit of literate musing, simple back-to-basics musical mischief, and boy/girl vocal pingponging. Brad and Emily came from the acoustic band ROSA before punkin' pie. Punkin' Pie's most noted album " Broke Truck Good Luck " was released from Plan It X records, ( ran by Chris Calvin ). They are currently broken up sadly to say, but their music will always live on.

For your educational and historical enjoyment, I present to you another version of the children's Halloween hit of 1952, "Punky Punkin'," as sung by Fran Allison of Kukla Fran and Ollie Fame! (Do check out my Roy Roger's version of this song.) This recording came from an early 45rpm yellow vinyl children's record from the 1950's. And do enjoy the video montage of some of my vintage Halloween items that I've collected over the years, which include such things as: old postcards, paper die cuts and treat bags. They range all the way back from 1908...up to the 1960's. Have a Happy Hallloween!

The last few days have been a little cooler and the traditional end of Summer, Labor Day, is almost here. That means it's time for Fall and all of the seasonal beers that seem to come out to celebrate the change of seasons. One of the more popular styles for Fall is Pumpkin Ale. A lot of craft brewers, and some of the "fake craft beers" from the macro brewers are distributing their own version of this beer. I decided to start out the Fall seasonal "season" by reviewing Dogfish Head's Punkin Ale:
