Christianity A History "Reformation"

Ann Widdecombe MP personal vie of the reformation, a moment in time she describes as one of the saddest periods in Christian History. Nearly five centuries ago, the Reformation split the medieval Church into competing Catholic and Protestant factions. Ancient customs were abolished, the Pope was declared the Antichrist and Christian killed Christian in the name of their faith as religious wars and massacres raged. Ann was brought up as a Protestant in the Church of England but later in life converted to Catholicism. In her search for the causes of the Reformation, Ann sets out to learn more about the turbulent years that saw merciless intolerance drive a bitter divide between Catholics and Protestants. Beyond the battles of kings, popes and theologians Ann explores how the Reformation came to affect the common people and why it led to many religious breakthroughs: from attacks on church corruption to the translation of the Bible into English.

The Protestant Reformation - Martin Luther

Martin Luther wanted only the quiet solitude of the monastery. There this guilt-burdened monk discovered the freedom of the gospel. He couldn't keep quiet about it, nor could he stop the relentless swirl of events that propelled him to a decisive role in the shaping of the Protestant Reformation and the modern world. The Financial Reformation (trailer, Sibos2010)

A new generation of digitally-native intermediaries is emerging and with this will come a new economy. New systems to store and exchange value. New ways to think about finance. A system immune for the corrosive effects of monetary debasement, artificial scarcity and over-centralization. A system that is both too small and too distributed to fail. A system where complexity is simultaneously hidden away while being harnessed to create value for its users.

Reformed Heroes of the Faith

The history of the Reformation involves such heroes as Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Hus, Ulrich Zwingli, William Tyndale, John Wycliffe, Michael Sattler... These pioneers led us to an age where the sufficiency of scripture was procliamed and Reformation Theology flourished. This was counter to the thinking of Rome, with the exception of St. Augustine, who's teachings were condemned by the pope and rejected by Rome. This faithful exposition of scripture was supported by Jonathan Edwards, John Bunyan, George Whitefield, August Toplady, John Owen, William Wilberforce, John A. Broadus, JP Boyce, BH Carroll, Roger Williams, William Carey, JC Ryle, John Foxe, AW Pink, John Newton, Matthew Henry, and Charles Spurgeon. It was Arius, Pelagius, and the followers of Arminius whose teachings were deemed as heresy by the Church, and only later was it so widely accepted, by those outside of Rome, that man had a synergistic ability to work in his own salvation. This made man a co-worker with God, as opposed to a work fully done by God, followed by a command that can now be understood and obeyed, since that man is now regenerated by the power of the Holy Spirit, and by the power of the Word. It is amazing that, with the exception of John Wesley, (who persecuted the ministry of George Whitefield without being retaliated against and without repentance until Whitefield's death,) the most God-fearing, sin hating, selfless preachers of holiness and righteousness were Reformation ...

The Heritage of the Reformation by Richard Bennett

www.bereanbeacon.org The Heritage of the Reformation is essential to our present time. Richard Bennett presents this heritage with fervor in this DVD. The video has been professionally edited, so that paintings of historical personalities are inserted together with quotations from the Bible and from other sources. If you want revival, you ought to first seek the principles of Scripture as rediscovered at the Reformation. If personally, and in your church, you return to the foundational authority of Scripture alone, deeply experience grace alone through faith alone, and comprehend all blessing in Jesus Christ alone, then indeed, you will live proclaiming all glory and praise to the Lord God alone! Walter Veith - Rekindling The Reformation - Amazing Discoveries - New Series

Rekindling the Reformation is an 11-part series of inspiring and relevant multimedia presentations on the pivotal issues of the Reformation and how they relate to present day. Dr. Walter Veith clarifies the disputes that led to the horrific and bloody persecutions of the Dark Ages and demonstrates the urgency of understanding the same principles that are still under attack today. Millions of faithful servants died for pivotal truths found in the Word of God, such as the identity of the Antichrist and salvation by grace alone. Their sacrifice succeeded in subduing an empire and making freedom of religion and thought possible. But, their success was short-lived. Through the centuries since the Reformation, we have lost the beliefs the reformers stood for. We have allowed Gods truth to be mixed with error. Today, we reap the repercussions of our lethargic neglect. The Roman Empires wound is healed, and politicians and heads of state follow without reluctance. This series is not a history lesson. It is a call to rekindle the principles of the Reformation and to re-examine the fundamental truths upon which the Reformers such as Calvin, Luther, and Zwingli stood. The Great Reformation [The Reformation Day Show] (Apologetics.com)

tinyurl.com From Apologetics.com (mostly): "The Glorious Reformation: Apologetics.com's annual Reformation Day show answers the question, does the Reformation really matter after 500 years? A global shift in Christian thought began in 1517. What had at one time been a Christian worldview applied to all of life and thought had become a shifting web of marginally Christian ideas used to support pagan ideology and vacant humanism devoid of eternal significance. Martin Luther sounded an alarm loud and long with reverberations that are still felt today from the worship in our churches to the halls of justice. Is a theocentric theology still permissible in an anthropocentric world? Why the constant urge to replace the Holy Scriptures as the sole infallible rule in matters of faith and practice with the judgements of the religious community or individuals that claim prophetic authority? Is God's intent to save those that are good enough to save themselves or those that have nothing of themselves which makes them in any sense worthy? Is the grace of God merely hypothetically salvific or actually effectual to save those that are lost? Is Justification by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone to the glory of God alone a message that has seen its day? Or one that with the Reformers we should say "semper refomanda", always reforming? Staff members Christopher Neiswonger and Lindsay Brooks are joined by special guests Pastor Kent Moorloch of Communion Prebyterian Church of ...

Reformation Overview Zwingli and Calvin 4a

Ulrich Zwingli and John Calvin were both pivotal in their contribution to the Reformation in Europe. It seems that I am a lot closer to Zwingli than Calvin especially in the area of understanding the Communion. I do not agree with the Calvinistic view of Predestination as it originated not with Paul but with Augustine who in turn borrowed it from pagan concepts of 'Fate'. Romans chapter 9 is a mis-use of the Scriptures by Calvinists as it refers to Israel alone and not the Church as chapters 10 and 11 clearly show. This peculiar doctrine held by Calvinists was not held by any Christian in the first three centuries as testified by the Ante-Nicene Fathers. In fact they argued against it as being a part of Gnosticism. Also Calvin's role in the execution of Servetus were prompted by feelings of hatred and wounded pride. We are called to separate from heretics not kill them. (Titus 3:10 KJV) I find the excuses for this crime given in this programme very weak indeed. What I will not do is stand in judgment of Calvin as to whether he was saved or not. However I do have very strong doubts as to that because the Scripture clearly says that no murderer has eternal life in him and Calvin was clearly responsible for this mans death. (1 John 3:15)
