This video shows my preferred method for restringing a classical guitar. I'm using D'Addario Pro Arté Classical Guitar EJ45 Normal Tension Silverplated Wound Clear Nylon strings. Note: I loop the three higher pitched strings (1st, 2nd, 3rd) three times rather than two times on the bridge. At the head, it's similar as in the video, except flipped in the right-left direction. At 3:28, I crossed the string to the right, then the left. So for the three higher pitched strings, go left then right. It should be easy to figure out.

This video was the first I made for a filmmaking course, the assignment being "Instructional Video". I'm actually not a very good guitarist, which is why you never actually see me play it. However, in the 10 years I spent working at a music store selling various instruments, I must have done thousands of restrings, and got pretty proficient at it. Maintaining and especially restringing your guitar is something you have to learn and practice, just like playing. Don't be discouraged if you screw up the first few times you try to restring your guitar - keep trying! The best thing you can do is to take at least a few lessons, and make sure your teacher shows you how to restring and care for your guitar. If you find a cool local, independent guitar shop, like the one I worked at, they may even give you a quick restring lesson for free if you ask. Stay away from Guitar Center - they're evil. And most importantly - NEVER mess with any of the screws on the bridge or neck of your guitar unless you know exactly what you're doing - you could cause some serious harm. ***If you're near Belmont or Waltham, MA, go to Belmont Music (Trapelo Rd.
