Owen spurns retirement after Manchester United wave goodbye

Michael Owen is set to leave Manchester United after the former England striker revealed he will not be offered a new contract, but says he is not yet ready to retire. The 32-year-old, whose deal expires this summer, has announced via Twitter that the club will not be renewing his terms. "The Manager informed me after our testimonial match on Tuesday that the club would not be offering me a new contract," the former England striker said. "I have loved every minute of the 3 years I have spent at such a fantastic club. "I would like to thank the players, staff and fans for their support and wish them well for the future. I now plan to have a short holiday during which I will contemplate my next move." Owen told Sky Sports News that he would be not be retiring just yet. "I would like to play another couple of years and play more regular," he said. "I'm only 32, looking at the likes of Scholesy and Giggsy, it fills you with confidence that you can play on. I am reasonably young and feel I can still play on. My body still feels good even though I've had a few injuries."

Social Security vs. Private Retirement

Students, get a full week of this at a summer seminar: lrnlbty.co Is Social Security a good retirement plan? Economics professor Antony Davies shows that Americans stand to earn significantly less and assume more risk with Social Security than other investment options. According to Davies, taxpayers would be better off both in terms of financial security and return on investment by investing their money privately. Social security is extremely expensive, soon to be insolvent, and doesn't even offer taxpayers the most bang for their buck. For those reasons, Prof. Davies argues that it is time for the government to phase out Social Security. Davies' solution: the government should honor its obligations to current retirees while giving Americans the freedom to invest their money as they see fit.

RETIRING Your Alternative to Retiring Worries.

RETIRING Your Alternative to Retiring Worries. www.RBDfacebook.com Retiring. Retiring woes and worries. How many years to retire and when people retire can be worrying times. When we retire, we think we will be more comfortable, financially stable and planning exotic holidays. This is most likely never the case.... our income suddenly drops to a fraction of what it used to be and many debts we had around when we were younger, we are still paying off. We have our children's debts and sometimes our children still living at home with us.Sometimes in the extreme we have to retire early, to make way for the younger lower paid workers. Sometimes we still work on to subsidize our dwindling incomes. have you ever gone to a big building or homeware depot at weekends and seen the number of elderly staff working there. Yes... Don't get me wrong, it is enjoyable, it gets you out of the house and keeps the mind active. The alternative to retiring early can be to take a big lump out of your private pension... This was good a few years ago when Interest rates were high... and now, sounds horrible but how long can we know to budget our money effectively.???? I don't know about you, but I would like to travel around, get some nice things for the house, visit the family more often, start different hobbies and MOST importantly not get stressed. Well now I want to introduce you to an alternative to retirement, a way to retire early, take extreme retirement, take early voluntary retirement ...

www.lockergnome.com Retirement can either be a time to explore new things that weren't possible with a five-day workweek nipping at the heels, or it can be a crushing time to reflect on one's mortality. For some, employment in a certain field defines who they are. And when it's time to hang up that profession, some people go a little crazy and don't know what to do with themselves. Others don't let the sudden free time trip them up, and just keep going on living life to its fullest. It's never too late to learn how to enjoy life! Recession snatches retirement from America's workers

Even with overall unemployment numbers reaching their lowest point in the past 32 months, Americans over 50 are still struggling with devastated savings and tough job prospects. Citizens reaching retirement age, many of whom have put in more than 50 years of work, are finding they cannot sit back and enjoy their golden years. Around 57 per cent of Americans older than 50 are less confident than before the recession that they will have enough money to retire, and nearly a quarter of that population has lost all of their savings in the crisis. Meanwhile, the number of over-50 Americans still working has doubled in past 20 years. Al Jazeera's Scott Heidler reports from New York City.

Shigeru Miyamoto reflects on his legacy and retirement

The creator of Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong video game characters had the industry buzzing when an interview was published by Wired earlier in December in which he hinted at retirement. But the 59-year-old game designer told the Associated Press through an interpreter that he was simply misunderstood. He said that while he has no plans to quit Nintendo, he is working to prepare the famed Japanese company's younger game designers to take over eventually for him and others in the old guard. Miyamoto currently holds the title of Manager of Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis and Development division. His creations appear in three recently-released titles: "Mario Kart 7", "Super Mario 3D Land" and "The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword". Miyamoto expects his characters to outlive him. Nintendo's first foray into HD will be when its Wii U console is released, likely late in 2012. But Miyamoto says he's simply not been interested in photo-realistic graphics as a game designer. Miyamoto says he is working on several upcoming games including "Pikmin 3" for the Wii U, "Luigi's Mansion 2" for the 3DS and an undisclosed original title.

Retirement Savings Rule 1: Reduce Investment Risk as the Day Nears

This is the VOA Special English Economics Report , from voaspecialenglish.com | http Today, retirement can mean different things. For many Americans, it means the end of the money-earning part of their life and the beginning of a period of enjoyment. But retirement calls for planning and savings. In many countries, employers may offer some kind of retirement savings plan. The plan could be linked to the company's stock or to a managed investment service. Almost any financial planner will say workers should use these plans to save money easily: often directly from their wages. But an employer plan should not be your only way to save for retirement.Pete D'Arruda heads his own financial planning company and gives retirement advice on radio shows and television. He tells people to save whenever possible. But he says as retirement nears, you must take fewer financial risks. "There's three stages of life there when we look at it. There's the part where you're earning money. And when you're earning money, if you have a salary, it makes it easier to take risk because you know that if you lose the money you can go back and earn some more." By risks, Pete D'Arruda means investing in stocks and other financial instruments that can lose value quickly. He says people should move money away from riskier investments as they age even if there is a possibility of a higher rate of return. Instead, investors nearing retirement should seek more secure investments for their savings. "But then ...

Follow my YouTube video updates on Twitter. twitter.com Stefan Daniel Patryk Liv (21 December 1980 -- 7 September 2011), born Patryk Śliż, was a Polish-born Swedish professional ice hockey player. Liv played professionally in Sweden, North America and Russia. Liv played nine seasons for HV71 in Sweden. He played one season of minor league hockey in North America then returned to Europe. Upon his return, he played three seasons in Sweden, then moved to Russia in 2009. He was a member of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL when he died with the rest of the team in a plane crash. He was a member of several Swedish national teams, including the 2006 Olympic championship team. Liv was the starting goaltender for HC Sibir and was often chosen for the Swedish national team. On 22 December 2005, he was named as third goaltender to Team Sweden for the 2006 Winter Olympics. He wore the goaltender's glove on his left hand. He was agile, quick in moving from side to side and skilled with close-range shots, and his unorthodox style reminded some of Dominik Hašek. On 7 September 2011, Liv was killed when a Yakovlev Yak-42 passenger aircraft, carrying nearly his entire Lokomotiv team, crashed just outside Yaroslavl, Russia. The team was traveling to Minsk to play their opening game of the season, with its coaching staff and prospects. Yours Truly, Angry Mob Regular edition cover (CD and LP) Studio album by Kaiser Chiefs Released 26 February 2007 Recorded Hook End Studio, Berkshire: September - October, 2006 Genre Indie Rock Length 44:19 Label B-Unique Producer Stephen Street Yours Truly, Angry Mob is the second album by English rock band Kaiser Chiefs. It was released on 23 February 2007 in Belgium and the Netherlands, on 26 February 2007 in the rest of the world and in late March in North America. The album was preceded by the release of lead single "Ruby" on 19 February (see 2007 in British music).[1][2][3] It became the band's first (and to date, only) number one album in the British album charts. Once again produced by Stephen Street, producer of the band's debut album Employment, Yours Truly, Angry Mob is lyrically darker and more socially aware than its predecessor, with tracks dealing with street crime, violence, fame, and the inaccuracy of tabloid articles. The band had earlier revealed to NME in October 2006 that they had recorded 22 songs and hoped to whittle that number down to 13 or 14 for the final album.[4] Additionally, in July 2006 the band revealed to Gigwise that they'd hoped to have the album released by Valentine's Day 2007.[5] The album was leaked in its entirety on February 21, 2007. The album was criticised by Blur frontman Damon Albarn, who likened it to his own record The Great Escape.
