Spectacular video: 'Jetman' soars over Rio de Janeiro skyline
Yves 'Jetman' Rossy continues to push the boundaries of aviation - this time, by successfully completing a flight under a sunny sky over the city of Rio de Janeiro. Yves Rossy, the only person to fly with a rigid wing equipped with four jet engines, dropped from a helicopter over Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, where he stabilised the wing and headed full throttle north to circumvent Corcovado. He then tracked south of the city to fly alongside Ipanema, Copacabana, and Sugar Loaf Mountain, before pulling his parachute and safely landing on the infamous Copacabana beach. Rossy's carbon-kevlar Jetwing has four engines attached, which each offer a thrust of 22kg, propelling the Swiss aviator at between 200-300kph, controlled by a simple throttle in his hand. The rest of the controls are left to the human-fuselage, Yves Rossy himself who simply usages his shoulders, body and legs to steer, pitch and descend. "Jetman" soars over the Rio de Janeiro skyline
Yves "Jetman" Rossy once again pushed the boundaries of aviation by completing a fabulous flight above the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This airborne pioneer, who is the only man to fly with a rigid wing equipped with four jet engines, jumped out of a helicopter above the Rodrigo de Freitas Lake, before stabilizing the wing and heading full throttle north to fly around Corcovado Hill. He then tracked south of the city to fly alongside Ipanema Beach, Copacabana and the famous Sugar Loaf Mountain, before pulling his parachute and landing safely on the beach in front of the Copacabana Palace hotel. The carbon-kevlar jetwing is equipped with four jet engines, each with a 22 kg thrust, thus propelling the Swiss aviator at a speed of 200-300 km/h which he controls via a simple hand-held throttle in his hand. To adjust his trajectory and his altitude, he relied exclusively on maneuvering his body, shoulders and legs. The entire feat lasted 11 minutes 35 seconds in all, at an average altitude of 1200 meters, and no problems were reported before, during or after the flight. Rio de janeiro Brazil Fireworks New year 2012 RIO DE JANEIRO — This year's New Year's Eve fireworks on Rio's famed Copacabana beach, an event expected to draw nearly two million party-goers, will have an environmental theme, officials said Wednesday. "We are very proud to organize the world's biggest 'Reveillon' show, the liveliest and the most peaceful," said Mayor Eduardo Paes. "We are going to have once more a super event with beautiful, spectacular and fantastic fireworks for all tastes." Press reports said the elaborate firework display would seek to represent solar energy, flora and fauna as well as the wind and optimism. The celebration, in which nearly 24 tons of fireworks will be detonated for 16 minutes from midnight on January 1, will also feature a laser show and music by DJ Joao Brasil. Attendees were expected to come clad all in white to the event, which calls attention to the importance of protecting the environment and to ways people can contribute to building a better planet for future generations. It is planned as part of the lead-up to Rio+20, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development scheduled to take place in the Brazilian city in June. Some 1500 policemen will provide security for the Copacabana extravaganza, the biggest of 10 such events across the city.

It is usually, although not always, characterized by playful, ritualized games, which combine elements of dancing, combat, and music, while stressing interaction between the two players and the musicians and observers. Capoeira Angola contains rituals known as chamadas which translates literally to English as calls. This can be related to the idea of call and response that permeates the music of Capoeira and other African-derived musics such as samba de roda, jazz and blues. Chamadas (or calls) are initiated by one player signalling with a consistent ritual, such as holding one hand up, or holding both hands down near the feet while crouching over with the feet together and looking at the other player. These sequences of movements are done within the capoeira game and have strategic significance such as trying to change the pace of the game, or to indicate the dominance of one player over the other.
