Ritewing Demon 50" after finally getting the proper speed control, and getting the control throws dialed in. Now she flies on rails at 195mph, then slows down like a parkflyer. First two passes were out of moderate dives. Remaining passes are level, and average to 186mph level, no-wind airspeed.

About the aircraft (Ritewing Zephyr) - www.ritewingrc.com Chris at RitewingRC developed the Zephyr flying wing specifically for FPV. Ritewings (eg Demon or TL, TL-50) are known by enthusiasts to have awesome performance and insane speed. Coming from the Maxi Swift, I can only agree. I took all the gear off my Maxi Swift and put it on the Zephyr ... and man is there a difference. The speed more than doubled, flight time remained about the same. The plane turns, tracks and glides great, it takes each command from the pilot and converts it into action. Nothing bad to be said about this aircraft, simply astonishing. Recommended for anyone who already got his feet wet with FPV! About the ezOSD - www.immersionrc.com I'm a skeptic of OSDs. The screen real estate is limited and when flying hard and fast, nothing should clutter your screen. Most current OSDs do nothing but clutter up your screen - take a look at all the good/crazy pilots ... none of them use OSDs. I have chosen to give the ezOSD a try because it is the least cluttered and, as the name says, it's easy to set up and use. Installation is a breeze (5mins at most if you have a ready FPV aircraft), and the performance is brilliant. The ezOSD can be turned off during flight ... but it's so clean and doesn't disturb the pilot at all, so not really required to turn it off.

Ritewing Zephyr w/ flaps test flights
Ritewing Zephyr 3rd and 4th flight since maiden. Still dialing her in... This wing was designed by Ritewing with aerial photography and video in mind. It can haul up some weight well and had decent floating characteristics. This wing has the full weight of all the intended video equipment in the form of lead for the initial tests. Comes in at 4 lbs at the moment.

RiteWing Zephyr FPV Zilker Park crash
The motor flies off at 75 feet and shakes the Go Pro and it takes a big fall and survives. Plane somehow survived. Lesson learned: Do not epoxy motor mount to other metal mount in plane, use screws. Very stupid mistake, lucky to have all my gear intact. Was not recording from the ground station, but sure wish I was.

Ritewing Zephyr - A superb flying wing serving as my new camera plane. Equipment: 2x 2200 3s lipo's in parallel. 3536-10 motor from HeadsupRC. 80 amp EMax ESC. 11x5.5 APC prop. Power: 530 watts with fresh batteries. GoPro HD camera. All up weight: 1.7 kg. Flight time: about 15 minutes without being shy with the throttle. First flights were successful thanks to setup tips from Brosius85, as well as various folks in the RC forums.

as all maidens go i was a bit nervous... ok alot nervous! no need to be though. this thing handles so well. even at slow speeds in botched landing attempts it just goes wherever you need it to and really looks after the pilot. i am really impressed with this wing and cant wait to put a bigger motor on it and really see it go fast. im looking forward to flying it again with the correct cg rates and expo. it is definetly a step up from my iyf 44 but it will be awesome i know built with: turnigy 1300kv 35-36 turnigy plush 60 esc Spektrum ar7000 rx 9.1kg mg $15servos fully glassed with riteweave and 3m90. you can buy the kit from ck at ritewingrc.com the cores are EPP making the plane almost indestructable- unlike other foam or even balsa- if you crash that stuff you will never fly it again. i have put my iyf 44 into a "few" trees and usually you just pick it up and throw it. really minimum damage. if you play chicken with the ground you will lose, but you can fix it and fly again. i destroyed a few servos that way but never damaged the airframe beyond repair. if you are getting into rc flying i would highly recommend these wings for their durability and ease of construction.

destroyed ritewing ZII
was flying LOS with the LED's on, apparently one of the elevons let go and she spiraled into the water at very high speed. this was a very powerful wing with around 2000w of power. there is something about night flying that makes you feel like you need to huck it, it didn't help that i had a big crown cheering me on.... i guess i yanked the sticks a bit hard, flew it a bit too fast and destroyed it i am just glad nobody got hurt and i was ably to recover all my gear and the go pro.
