The River Tay: From Source to Mouth

From: hvg.heinemann.co.uk The River Tay from source to mouth and the associated land features: the river's source is high in the mountains, small, fast-flowing tributaries cascade over waterfalls to join the growing river as it travels through the Scottish countryside; the river runs into a loch, sailing and waterskiing are enjoyed on the open space; the river has now become wide and slow-flowing past rural communities, a hydroelectric dam blocks the path of the River Tummel, a tributary to the River Tay; again the river widens but is now faster-flowing with rapids, canoeists battle the white-water; further downstream the river slows and begins to meander across the flat landscape before entering the estuary and flowing out to sea, we see seals on the sandy beach.
