According to our friends at the Hollywood reporter Eighteen years after the sudden death of actor River Phoenix, Dutch director George Sluizer says he will finish Dark Blood, the 1993 drama that Phoenix was shooting when he died of a heart attack on Halloween night outside the Viper Room in Los Angeles. After Phoenix's death, the director took the original Dark Blood footage and kept it hidden fearing that it would be destroyed. The director has now re-edited the material and believes with a few adjustments -- using voice over for instance -- he can now deliver a final cut of the film for release next year. Dark blood is about hermit, played by phoenix, living in the desert on a nuclear testing site as he waits for the end of the world. When a Hollywood jet-set couple arrives to find shelter, he begins a troubled relationship with the wife. What do you guys think of Sluizers bringing river phoenix back? UPDATE: Recently it has come to my attention that this film will be released in 2012. I made this tribute video 5 months ago and "presto" like a dream come true the impossible will be realized in a short time. X Fingers crossed!!! ______ Dark Blood ... the movie with no end, literally, because sadly it never reached completion. The film reel has been left to collect dust somewhere in a Los Angeles basement and it is still unclear as to why no efforts have been made to finish the film. George Sluzier, the director of the film, once said that it would be "bad karma" to finish this film. Somehow, I doubt this to be true... it may very well be bad karma not to finish it. It is well known that River Phoenix - who starred in the film - left his earthly life before the film was finished. The script is as mysterious as the circumstances of River's passing.
