These are my Roborovski dwarf hamster pups as they go from being pink and squirmy to fuzzy peanuts to full grown hamsters. Most of the clips are of my first litter, born July 4th, 2008. A few of the younger clips are of the second litter, born July 26th, and third litter, born August 15th. The stars are Cream and Caramel, the parents, and Pip, Bubble, Squeak and their two brothers, the oldest pups. Cinnamon and Ceylon, the pups uncles, show up at the end. The song is Chasing Cars (the Hey Team Remix) by Snow Patrol. For scale, the parents are about three inches long (which is big for robos).

This is PART ONE of the process of making my roborovski's natural habitat. "Darling" will be very happy once it is finished. :) A natural habitat is a type of cage of a hamster that has become very popular over the few years. After doing a lot of research about a roborovski's natural environment in the wild, I learned so much! Turns out, Roborovskis need much more than just aspen bedding, a house, and a wheel. They need to be able to forage for their food, climb around, burrow any time they want, dig in the sand and just feel like they are in the wild! I have decided to recreate a roborovski's natural environment by building a habitat where her natural instincts may take place any time she would like. It is very important to keep your hamster happy and the number one way to do so is to let it live its normal happy life.

Our lucky mother had five healthy little babies, 14 days laters they've gone from looking like pink monkey nuts to looking like miniature robs (which is scary seeing as robs are the smallest dwarf hamsters as it is [oh and the fastest...dear god]). First handling... the mother didn't kill them as a result which we were afraid of and took precautions against (IE clean hands and handling the mother before the babies)oh and ignore the discard chinese takeaway... it was an essay night! They were in a small cage for a few mins while I cleaned the main cage as I hadn't been able to clean it for two whole weeks for fear of disturbing the nest. UPDATE: Loads of lovely comments, thank you everyone. All babies grew up fine and healthy. They all were successfully re-homed and had their own speedy adventures!

They're a lot cuter than they were a week ago. Continuing to make friends, although their natural skittishness is coming out. Alternating between gentle attention so they'll be used to hands, and bribing with yogurt treats. Sweet Pea continues to be an unusual mom. Rather than getting in the way by being protective, she's getting in the way because she wants attention too.

This is my Roborovski hamster named Ham Ka Chan. I picked her up early summer at a local pet shop because I wanted the experience of owning a pet. BABIES ARE NOW 11 DAYS OLD AND ARE RUNNING AROUND AND EXPLORING. They waddle around like they have scuba diver's slippers on!

White faced roborovski baby dwarf hamsters 9 days old till 15 days old. The 3 of the babies got an eye infection right when their eyes opened- so that's why the fur around their eyes sometimes looks kind of matted. I was using a diluted saline mix to wash off the gunk so they could open their eyes. Oh and PS For those who have asked, the mom is NOT eating her baby. She is just carrying it across the cage. Mother hamsters aren't as particular as cats about where they grab onto their baby to carry it. They just grab whatever they can reach and go... In this case, the mom grabbed a leg. ALL the babies in this video survived. The oldest of the babies passed away December 4, 2009. He would've been 3 years old on January 3rd!!! One month short of his third birthday. Day 10! Now the babies are fully furred and dark pigment growing on their ears. SO CUTE. They look like little peanuts with big heads and tiny bodies! All there's left is their eyes to open and they will look like mini robo hamsters! Their eyes should open in less than a week. HOW EXCITING. My mommy robo (bon bon) was being a party pooper and trying to hide the babies but we all know that these babies LOVE the camera! :D Stay tuned for a hamster supply give-away!

Baby Robo hamster's 4th day alive. They were born on 6/4/10 ( i counted that as their first day). They look much much darker. The also look a tad bit bigger. They are very healthy, even the runt ;D Bon Bon is doing such a good job taking care of them. I am so proud of her. STAY STRONG BON BON! :D

Ever read the description of chinchilla sand that says animals 'frolic' in it and wondered what that meant? This is what my little robos like to do - roll about in it to get the grease out of their fur. The sand here is in a plastic bird bath, but I also have small melamine containers in their cages that work.

A new way of making videos. I now use my vaio movie maker. Tell me if you like it more or less than just straight shot? I thought it was a little different and more.. AWESOME! but you tell me. Pups: The 5 pups are growing nicely. Dark pigment in skin, tiny itty bitty fuzzies growing on their bodies, and EARS ARE UP! AAAH! so cute! Theyre tiny little ears are now up! :) It is amazingly cute and odd how fast these hamsters grow. I can see a big difference. Also, when they were first born.. they were the size of my finger tip to the crease. Now they are passing that! So yes.. THEY ARE NOTICEABLY BIGGER! I hope to see a bigger growth tmrw. DAY 9 ALREADY! I cant believe how big they have gotten. They are almost twice the size now! Today I saw a baby pup left alone out of the nest. I put him back to the nest but found that MOMMY HAS MOVED THE NEST! I was so shocked. i think she just needed more room because the babies are so big now! Well, I did find a little hole where mommy's head was peeping out and I placed him right back in there. Oh. poor soul. I thought it was neglect but nope.. shes now caring for him again. What a good mommy! As for the video, I did open up their nest. I just needed a good shot of the babies suckling on mommy. And I thought that mommy would be mad but I used a spoon thats been under the bedding for over a week and she doesnt seem to mind it since the scent is just something shes used to. The babies got so big! The reason why I decided to move the top bedding was because since my lamp broke.. its hard to get a clear shot without making the babies look so dark. I did get a couple complaints that day 4 looked darker than day 5. IM SORRY! My lighting is just horrible! That's why I decided to look at them from the top so I can get a natural light into the lens. I hope you guys enjoy this and hope theres no more problems. :( Stay tuned for day 10! Im sorry I havent uploaded for day 6 :( I had work and I was very tired but today I did a special! I have kept a plastic spoon under their bedding for about a week now and the scent is the bedding instead of me. So i was able to pick up the baby pup with the spoon without having the mother feel threatened and neglect or eat the babies. So Today's video shows a reallllly good shot of one of the pups on day 7. Day 6 doesnt look any different though. The white eye brows grew in yesterday though and today the peach fuzzies are actually noticeable so I hope you guys enjoy this video!

This is a group Roborovski dwarfhamsters. Some of them have a White Face, but some also have the White-Face gene + have some colour in head. It look very strange! I think the White-face gene is dominant and is a spot-gene / a band-factor.

His name is Chipito and we are planning to breed him with our white face robo soon. :) Chipito and Valentine (our white face) are both going through taming sessions every day. This is Freya, she was a little tired and cold this morning so I warmed her up in my hands, she slept a lot and its so cute ^_^ She lives with Mia my moms hamster and is the runt of the pair, none the less she is very sweet and timid. Whilst Mia is fast an unholdable. Shortly after this was taken she jumped from my hand and fell to the carpet. I took her to the vets but she died shortly afterwards...Im horrible owner..I feel so bad..rip my little baby, me and Mia will miss you!

the big one is snow and the little one is jaycob, they are different, a roborovski and a campbell getting together along very well, they also sleep together and play with each other, people say hamsters like this should be separated because they are different types but these guys are like brothers and get along with each other very good.
