Here is the original first ever 1968 recording of High on a Hill This lovely and very moving trumpet solo was written by Alan Moorhouse for a very gifted 14 year old trumpet player Nigel Hopkins. Nigel was an international TV star and recording artist at this time, appearing on everything from variety TV shows to appearances with The Count Basie Orchestra and many other illustrious artists. Today he is, without question, one of the most gifted and amazing trumpet players in the world. High on a Hill is a very popular tune with military bugle bands and brass bands, and is often played at various events around the UK and abroad, but the true origins of High on a Hill are seldom mentioned.
