Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda Season 1 Intro
Dylan Hunt is the captain of the Andromeda Ascendant, a ship which serves in the military force of the Systems Commonwealth, a monarchy which spans several galaxies. Hunt and his ship are subsequently frozen for several centuries. Revived by a passing salvage ship, Hunt is horrified to find that the Commonwealth has collapsed and all known galaxies have descended into barbarism. Hunt decides to take his ship and crew on a trip around the cosmos to attempt to restore order to the known galaxies. A Star Trek Nemesis "Dolphin" styled phaser with the sliding cowl. The body kit was made by Stapleton, the electronics are my own and the build was performed by me. This represents my first attempt at making electronics for a prop and took about 5 months to finish. Some cool things about it, aside from Majel Roddenberry's voice is the separate sound effect for the increase and decrease of the power setting, the flashing of a single power cell and that the power cells do not remain illuminated when the cowl is closed.

Majel Barrett-Roddenberry and I met at the Los Angeles Star Trek Convention on 6/3/89. An engaging and entertaining lady, she was enjoying some drinks with us fans at the bar. So, I soon left the party to attend Gene Roddenberry's lecture in the main ballroom. I'd not seen him in person since his college-tours during the early 1970's. Those were lean years for Gene, his tv-pilots had never succeeded and his Star Trek series had been reduced to a saturday-morning cartoon program (before Star Trek-The Motion Picture and The Next Generation). Wanted to share this brief edit of her surprise-appearance during Gene's question-and-answer session. Many family, friends and fans will miss you, Majel.

Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry passed away a few weeks before the release of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Following Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Roddenberry continued to consult on the Star Trek films, but was not directly involved as a producer. At the Star Trek night for the LA Times Hero Complex Film Festival on Friday June 10th, Star Trek VI director and co-writer spoke about tensions between himself and Roddenberry regarding elements of the film, especially the anti-Klingon racism displayed by Star Trek's heroic crew who Roddenberry felt should be more evolved. more at trekmovie.com

This is my own tribute to Majel Barrett Roddenberry. It is my first posting on YouTube. Hopefully she is now reunited with her beloved Gene and they are exploring the galaxy together at last. The music is "the Orchestral Suite from The Inner Light" composed by Jay Chattaway.
