Create your own DIY guide at www.howcast.com or produce your own Howcast spots with the Howcast Filmmakers Program at www.howcast.com If you've ever had a rodent problem, you know they're not nearly as 'loveable' as Mickey Mouse—but that doesn't mean you want them to suffer a slow, cruel death either. This method gets them out of the house humanely. To complete this How-To you will need: A trash can Some newspaper An empty paper towel or toilet paper roll Some tape Some bait, like cheese or peanut butter Step 1: Position trash can Put an empty trash can below the edge of a table or counter, add a garbage can liner, and fill the bottom with crumpled newspaper. Step 2: Set the trap Place an empty toilet paper or paper towel roll on the end the counter or table, letting one side hang just a bit over the edge, directly over the trash can. Secure it in place with tape. Tip: Put a crease in the roll before setting it down so the bottom lays flat. Step 3: Add the bait Place some bait—like a dab of peanut butter or a piece of cheese, or both—at the very end of the roll, on the side above the trash can. Step 4: Wait Wait for Mickey to take the bait. Rodents like food and love tunnels, so it's just a matter of time before he sees or smells the treat, scampers through ...
Rodent/Rat Control Fort Worth, Rodent Elimination in Fort Worth, TX

This is what a severe rodent infestation looks like up close. This residential home located in Fort Worth, Texas had rodent droppings literally from one end to the other. As the camera crosses the room, notice where the piles of rodent droppings are located. This indicates rat runways. Because rodents have such poor vision, rats will run along borders and use their whiskers to help navigate where they are going. That's why more of the rodent droppings are located against the walls. Make sure to watch this inspection completely for a nice little surprise at the end. Please give Fort Worth Assassin Exterminating & Pest Control a call at (817) 727-8149 or visit our website at www.assassinexterminating.com if you have any questions and Thanks for watching.

Ultrasonic Rodent Repellent: Victor PestChaser

www.victorpest.com The Victor PestChaser® protects your home from mice by using science instead of poisons. Developed after years of research, the PestChaser® emits a high-frequency sound wave that creates a jackhammer-like noise to mice. It is powerful enough to prevent mice and rats from entering a home in the first place, yet the PestChaser® remains inaudible to humans. PestChaser® is safe for use around your family and offers a humane pest control solution. The sound waves utilize noise as an animal behavior modification technique. PestChaser® is an effective rodent repellent solution for those who do not wish to apply deadly force to a mouse or rat. Children or pets won't have to come into contact with a dead animal as the PestChaser® will drive rodents away, keeping them from entering in the first place. Independent, third-party lab and field tests showed that the Victor PestChaser® effectively prevented rodents from feeding and building their nests in locations where it was in use. Since ultrasounds do not travel through walls, it is important to choose the right PestChaser® model. The discreet mini PestChaser® works great in living areas. Sheds and garages would by best protected with the pro mini model, which covers a larger area. The extra powerful pro version covers an even wider area and is an effective solution for areas such as barns and workshops. All PestChaser® models are extremely easy to use. Rodent Control: Mouse and Rat Poison

www.victorpest.com Rodent baits, also known as mouse poison, rat poison or rodenticides, offer an economical and efficient approach to controlling rodent populations. Rodenticides come in either pellets or blocks. Bait packets are useful as they keep the poison away from you while placing the poison in the proper location. Also, rodents must gnaw through the covering, therefore you can determine whether there was rodent activity involved with the bait. Pellet baits and place packs are prone to being carried away and stored in different locations. For this reason, the baits can come in contact with pets and children. Placing the place packs in nests or burrows is encouraged in order to control large populations of rodents. Block baits come in a unique shape that's designed to provide rodents with an attractive gnawing item. Typically, block baits are nailed to a piece of wood in order to prevent it from being carried away and allow you to monitor whether it has been gnawed or is still intact. In most cases, it makes little sense to evenly place baits in a room if the rodent activity is located in one or two specific areas. When used properly, mouse poison should not harm pets or children, but it is important to remember that it could harm wildlife and children. Be sure to take extra precautions against accidental poisons. Also, remember, poisoned rodents may die anywhere; they may die in an inconvenient location. However, most of the time, poisoned rodents succumb to the ...
Rodent Prevention Using UltraSonic Repellents

www.victorpest.com Ultrasonic repellents are a new type of technology that emits high frequency sound waves that have been found to effectively repel rodents from affected areas. Humans and pets are not able to hear these sound waves. The sound waves are non-repetitive and sound like a jack hammer to mice. One of the sounds the ultrasonic repellents emit is the same frequency as a dominant male mouse. Male mice are very territorial and the sound of a dominant rodent will discourage others from inhabiting a territory. Rodents are nocturnal, so placing your UltraSonic repellent in the correct location is key. To do this, find the place the rodents are coming in by investigating pathways for tracks, nests, gnaw marks and droppings. Next, plug the repellent into an outlet in the middle of an open room where it is not blocked by furniture. The soundwaves cannot travel through walls or furniture, so keeping the device in an open space is key to its success. The sound waves are deflected by hard surfaces and absorbed by soft surfaces. Therefore, areas like kitchens, garages and basements allow the ultrasound to bounce around. In order to prevent rodents from entering your house, it is best to allow the ultrasound waves to run across a doorway or entrance. Additionally, remember that Ultrasonic repellents will work in the square footage they are placed. If you place it in a 10x10 room, it will work just as well in a 20x20 room. However, placing multiple repellents in one area can ...

Black Mamba hunting Rodents 01, deadly venomous snake

Ojatro.com http Black mambas hunts by moving fast with their heads high above the ground, on the constant lookout for potential prey as well as predators. Once prey is detected, the mamba 'freezes' to avoid early detection and continues with a slow but careful approch. When in reach, the snake hurling itself forward, issuing several quick but deadly bites, swiftly killing its prey. If the prey attempts to escape, the black mamba will follow up its initial bite with a series of strikes. Mambas will release larger prey after biting it to avoid being injured, but smaller prey, such as birds and rodents, are held until the prey has died. Mambas sometimes holds off a direct attack on a single prey animal but follows it to its burrow. This technique proves quite successful, due to the fact that the black mamba will take full advantage of the situation and feed not just on a single rat or mouse but kill and devour the entire rodent population of the burrow in a single visit. Black mambas feed mostly on smaller warm blooded mammals, such as rats, mice, hyraxes and even bushbabies. These snakes are agile enough to ambush and catch birds and bats out of the air and do so frequently in trees or near water holes. Mambas do feed occasionally on other reptiles, such as lizards and venomous snakes, including puff adders and cobras. After ingestion, powerful acids digest the prey, sometimes within eight to 12 hours depending on its surrounding temperature. Black Mamba feeding on rodents ...

Food 4 Thought - Worker at rodent-poop-filled store makes stunning admittal

Derek Davila says he won't buy food at a store that has a rodent problem. His statement doesn't bode well for My Country Store on 3517 Business 77 in Sebastian. Derek has been the cashier there for the last year. A state inspector recently busted the store with a number of rodent-related problems. Records from last month show more than a dozen fresh and old rodent droppings were observed at the food preparation area, by the water heater and on top of shelving. What's even more unsettling to people who frequent the store was the fact that workers left a dead rodent on a glue trap while the health inspection was being conducted. "That's nasty," Angel Rios, a customer said. The Food Patrol asked Derek if he thought those conditions inside the store were sanitary. "No," he responded. He added how they've been trying to get the problem under control. "They just keep coming back," he said. Click on video link to see what else is not on the menu in this week's Food 4 Thought. Vampire Rodents - Trilobite

Lullaby Land, Vampire Rodents (1993) "Their savage art of montage reached a demented peak with Lullaby Land (1993). Rhythm permeated this work at least on two levels: a disco/funk/house beat that propelled the track; and the pace at which snippets were glued together to form "songs". At both levels the verve was palpable. The songs were gags, and each gag was an assembly of cells. It was entertaining, and it was terrifying. The whole recalled the grotesque and unpredictable merry-go-rounds of Frank Zappa's early works and the Residents' early suites. Vampire Rodents' "lullaby land" was set in a Freudian nightmare and that nightmare played at double speed in a very chaotic theater." -Piero Scaruffi on Lullaby Land

How to Find Mice and Rodents in Your House

Identifying where rodents are located in your home involves several different techniques. First begin by trying to identify the type of rodent problem you have. The house mouse is dusty gray in color and usually 2.5-4 inches long. Its nesting areas include cluttered areas such as closets or garages and areas behind appliances. They eat cereals, grains, meats and seeds. The Norway rat is grayish-brown in color and normally 7-10 inches in length. Its nesting areas include burrows in soil, sewers and basements, and the lower areas of buildings. Their diet includes cereals, grains, meats, seeds, cockroaches, fruits and shrimp. Roof rats are black to brownish-gray and typically 7-10 inches long. The roof rat nests in attics, false ceilings, dead fronds of palm trees and upper portions of buildings. Their diet consists of fruits, berries, meats, seeds, vegetables and eggs. Start with a good inspection to determine which type of rodent is in your home and where they are nesting. Fecal pellets are the best sign that you have an infestation. Even a small population of mice can produce a large amount of droppings in a short time. Fresh droppings are dark in color and soft to touch. After three days, they'll harden and lose color. The age of the droppings tells you if your rodent problem is current. Recent gnawing may also be evidence of a current rodent infestation. Pathways are evident in infestations. Rodents use the same pathways from their nest to your home, for their food ...

Of rice and rats: An introduction to ecologically based rodent management

Rodents have played a central role in human life for thousands of years, and comprise perhaps the most important family of mammals. This video, produced by the Irrigated Rice Research Consortium (IRRC; irri.org ) features the impacts of rodents on people and rice crops, particularly in Southeast Asia. The concept of ecologically based rodent management (EBRM) is explained, and effective community actions to control rice field rats are suggested. Also see: * Rodent outbreaks: Ecology and impacts on Google Books: books.google.com * Rat busters, an article in Rice Today magazine: irri.org Partial script: Rodents are a nuisance to most people, annoying pests that eat and spoil our clothes and food and destroy our homes and highly valued personal belongings. They intrude on our personal space. Unfortunately, rodents are everywhere, except for the snow-covered regions of the world. A select subset of species has become the ultimate mammalian weed, living in almost every habitat on Earth. They adapt well to environments significantly altered by humans. There are more than 2270 species of rodents; 42% of all mammal species are classified as rodents. Surprisingly, only 10% of the different species of rodents are pests in agriculture. Majority play an important role in the food chain. In some cases, they become important engineers of the ecosystem. Their burrows and trails influence the flow of water and nutrients at a local scale. Their collection and hoarding of seeds in a forest ...
