There are however common genetic elements with the Anatolian populations, where the Hittites have lived and also with the Greeks, Italians and Basques. Professor Alexander Rodewald is in charge of a group which has done genetic studies on old and modern bones from Romania in order to establish the origin of the Romanian people.
