Tutorials for Rylynn and possibly Dreamcatcher to be released before Xmas (hopefully). Maybe more Mckee play-alongs or covers if I have time. Also started playing some Antoine Dufour. Possibly new covers one day... ----------------------- This time, I did a little video of Rylynn. The editing was just as painful as with Drifting, plus I recorded it on the sequencer to get better sound quality. The downside is, I had to do some playback, which is extremely difficult!!! Although I tried to ba faithful to the spirit of the original (Rylynn was a young friend of the McKee's who passed away prematurely),I adapted the song, which is now slightly shorter than the original. For those who listened to the original a thousand times (I think there are many of us), I hope you won't be disappointed. Feel free to leave your comments. 'Rylynn' composed by Andy McKee Hey guys! Here's my latest video called Rylynn by the great Andy McKee. I played this song a long time ago, but I thought it sucked so I tried it again this time, and I think I did an ok job on this one. I really love playing this song!! This was actually the first finger style guitar video I saw on youtube. After listening and playing it for some time now, for some reason I think Andy McKee got inspired by Michael Hedges 'Aerial Boundaries' for the bridge part because the bass line has a similar rhythm to it. I wonder... :D I recorded it a little bit different this time. I actually recorded the audio and video separately and I synced them together. I recorded the audio a little differently as well. I mixed a little bit of mic and aa bit of the pickup so I guess it sounds better? I'm not sure haha xD I think it sounds better. I used the Martin again because my Taylor is still in the guitar shop getting repaired. I'll hopefully get that by next week. :D Well anyways, I hope you enjoy(ed) this video, and I'll see you guys next time! :D -Sungmin

At last !!!!!! After several years and a few thousand requests, I finally found the time to shoot a tutorial for my piano cover of genius Andy McKee's Rylynn. I hope this is what you expected and I want to thank you all for the massive amount of messages and praise you've sent me over the months. Being just some guy who enjoys playing the piano, this was highly unexpected and I guess Andy deserves all the credit for that. For those who have been wondering, Andy himself has seen my covers and as the incredibly nice guy he is, he's been extra-supportive. I got word from Don Ross and Brooke Miller too about my vids, which was uber-nice as well, since I consider all of them as superstars and I'm just some guy. Finally, I must tell you that my original inspiration for those covers came from a young fellow called Ahmad Tariq, who was the VERY FIRST on Youtube to have the idea of covering Andy's "Drifting" on a piano. You can still watch his video somewhere out there. I thought this was a brilliant idea and did my own cover before moving on to Rylynn and Dreamcatcher. He deserves much credit too. This has been by far and away my favourite Andy McKee tune since I first heard it a few years back, and I've been wanting to cover it for about as long. I've only recently felt that I've improved enough to actually do it some kind of justice, but I'll be the first to admit it's not *quite* there yet! Anyway, I'm reasonably happy with this, apart from the way that everyone in my corridor at university started slamming their doors left right and centre the second I got to the really tricky part at the end, haha. All the noises threw me off somewhat, hence the bit where I momentarily forget what was supposed to come next! Ah well, could be worse... EDIT: Forgot to say, this is also the first video where I tried recording the video on my digital camera, which is a Sony H20. Definitely going to be doing this from now on - much, much better quality than the webcam I was using before!

This is my original bass line for Andy McKee's amazing song Rylynn. I got permission from Candyrat Records before I uploaded this. I recorded this video playing through my Markbass Littlemark II, Traveler 1x15, and my Benavente 4 string fretless Standard Series prototype. Around 3:15 seconds into the video you'll notice my sound change a little bit, this is because the Zoom H-4 I was recording through ran out of batteries, so I had to overdub the rest with a guitar V-amp 2. I will be uploading another video of this soon that's just me with tabs going along with it for anyone who feels like learning this.
