The canal boat ride from MBK to Pratunam along Khlong Saen Saep is quite good fun and I think a must do for any first time visitor. . . . This video is longer than I usually upload but I wanted to incorporate the directions into the video. From Pratunam Pier you can head toward Panthip Plaza, past lots of large shopping complexes with AC food courts. . . . If you catch a boat heading the other way (coming from the right) it will take you to the Golden Mountain, another easy and fun trip.

Best viewed in full screen HD. The Saen Sap Canal is one of the major arteries draining potential flood waters safely through Bangkok and directing them to the Chao Phraya River. This video provides a look at this canal (khlong) mid-day 29 October 2011 while there was still some threat of flooding for low-lying areas in Bangkok. The canal ride began at Bang Kapi and then to the dock at Ratchadamri Road in the Pratunam area and then a return to Bang Kapi. The distance is approximately 9 km each way, The fare is 19 baht.
