Chanted by the Byzantine Choir of Athens, Greece - Costas Zorbas Chanted in the plagal of 1st tone during Holy Friday vespers when St. Joseph came and asked for the body of Christ from Pilate and wrapped him in fine linen for burial. Tranlation: Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit; now and ever and unto the ages of ages; amen. When Joseph with Nicodemus took You down from the Cross, Thee who wears Light as clothing, and seeing Thee dead, naked, unburried, he took on a lament full of sympathy and, weeping, said: Alas, my sweetest Jesus; when, a little ago, the Sun observed you hanging from the Cross, he clothed himself with darkness; and the Earth quaked with fear; and the Temples veil was rent in twain. But behold, here I see Thee, willingly succumbed to death for my sake. How shall I entomb Thee, My God? Or how shall I wrap Thee in the linen cloth? With what hands shall I caress Your immaculate Body? Or what hymns shall I chant for Your pass away, Merciful? I magnify Your passion, I offer hymns for Your burial, along with Your Resurrection, crying: Lord, glory to Thee!
