This clip is the raw/unedited video of a two-alarm commercial structure fire that I shot in the Mira Mar area of San Diego on August 19th, 2010. The company involved was Hi-Q Environmental Products Company at 7386 Trade Street, San Diego, CA 92121. There were flames through the roof upon SDFD's arrival. The fire damaged at least two businesses. I was unofficially told (well after the incident) that the source of the fire had to do with a Ford F150 that was parked inside the building. Just FYI, on incidents like this I usually continue to roll video even through my scene changes and adjustments on a-lot of shots. Also note that this video was originally shot in 16x9 on my Panasonic AJ-SPX800P.

Multiple-alarm, 2-story commercial structure fire. Streaming slide show with soundtrack and captions. Initial report from a passing SD police officer: "possible smoke from a building - notify FD to respond". First floor video rental business was open, with customers and staff inside, unaware of any potential danger. Second floor offices (multiple) were closed and secured for the night. Engine companies (E-20 & E-25) evacuated first floor and advanced charged lines to the second floor, forced entry to multiple doors - reported heavy smoke and heat conditions from above - pulled ceiling, initiated interior attack. Truck company (T-20) laddered the roof and ventilated. Companies found heavy fire conditions throughout entire second floor attic - command ordered all companies out of and off of building; transitioned to "defensive mode". Ladder pipes from Truck's 11, 20, 14, and 1 - along with multiple hand lines - eventually resulted in full containment (via the classic "surround and drown" method). Fire investigation by San Diego Metro Arson Strike Team ("MAST") revealed probable cause to be a malfunction of mechanical equipment in the concealed attic space. It is possible that the fire went unnoticed for hours before the initial report. Total loss: $3M+. SDFD personnel at scene: 60+ Units Dispatched/Responded: Engines: 8 Trucks: 4 ALS Medic Units: 4 HazMat Squad: 1 Light & Air Squad: 1 Chief Officers: 4 Fire Investigators: 2
