The Iceberg That Sank The Titanic P1

The RMS Titanic was an Olympic-class passenger liner owned by the White Star Line and was built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, in what is now Northern Ireland. At the time of her construction, she was the largest passenger steamship in the world. Four days into the Titanic's maiden voyage, on 14 April 1912 shortly before midnight, the ship struck an iceberg, sinking early on 15 April 1912, two hours and forty minutes later. The sinking resulted in the deaths of 1517 of the 2223 people on board, making it one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. The high casualty rate was due in part to the fact that, although complying with the regulations of the time, the ship did not carry enough lifeboats for everyone aboard. The ship had a total lifeboat capacity of 1178 people, although her maximum capacity was 3547. A disproportionate number of men died due to the women and children first protocol that was followed. The Titanic was designed by some of the most experienced engineers, and used some of the most advanced technologies available at the time. It was popularly believed to have been unsinkable. It was a great shock to many that, despite the extensive safety features, the Titanic sank. The frenzy on the part of the media about the Titanic's famous victims, the legends about the sinking, the resulting changes to maritime law, and the discovery of the wreck have contributed to the continuing interest in, and notoriety of, the Titanic.

This newsreel (without the music)would have been shown in the cinemas at the time of the disaster. Footage includes the Titanic leaving Belfast Lough for Southampton on April 2nd, 1912. Captain Smith on the Bridge of the Titanic. The video also shows various ships such the Carparthia returning from rescuing survivors. Journalists interviewing survivors. Guglielmo Marconi, the inventor of long distance radio transmission and who was credited with saving those who were saved because of his marvelous invention. Although it says this was shot on April 2nd, 2012, British Pathe think it was probably earlier. The ship still looks like work is being done to it with lots of workmen still around. The Titanic's name is in black as is other parts of the ship which ultimately ended up as white. There is also a workman's loo which can clearly be seen dangling off the left hand side of the ship - this surely would have been removed before setting sail. The Titanic Requiem, trailer

On 15 April 1912 the RMS Titanic sank to the bottom of the North Atlantic and over 1500 people perished with it. 100 years later, Bee Gees legend Robin Gibb and his son RJ, compose and release a concept album to commemorate this disastrous voyage and catastrophic loss of life: The Titanic Requiem; their first classical work together. Recorded at London's landmark Air studios and performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the RSVP Voices choir, and produced by Cliff Masterson, it is a genuine modern classic. Three vocal pieces are included on the album: Daybreak (Mario Frangoulis), Christmas Day (Isabel Suckling), and most notably Don't Cry Alone which features an emotionally evocative lead vocal by Robin Gibb, who remains one of music's most distinctive voices. The Titanic Requiem will be released in UK/Europe by Rhino Entertainment on 19 March 2012. For more info: www.thetitanicrequiem.com

I actually really like the way this turned out... I've never had a text keep its duration for the whole time, I've never trimmed or edited audio before (so please don't steal) :) and I've never used someone else's clips before! So I tried a bunch of new things in this video, and I'm really happy with the outcome! It's a happy video... cheerful! :) I dream about things, and write about things... and though they may never happen, it makes me happy to dream of them. :) Big credit to xocountingstridesox for a ton of clips! She's amazing! Poor girl got hacked and lost her old channel, so this is her new! GO SUB :D and also credit to my sissy, myequineaddictionn for 2 or 3 clips. :) So... I didn't get 50 by yesterday, or today for that matter... but thanks for 48 :) it means a lot.

A Silver Mt. Zion's (also known as Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra) song 'Mountains Made of Steam' off the 2005 album 'Horses in the Sky'. The still shot is taken from the animated film Howl's Moving Castle. Think it fits. Enjoy. Lyrics: This was our stormy ending Water sank our boats Shouldn't we oh shouldn't we Throw our hopes into the ocean The ocean The warm grey sea Tell me or Kick me or Hold me or Please believe This is their busted future And this is our dream Which one do you Believe in, believe in, believe in, believe in Together, together, together, together Never to retreat Mystery and wonder Messy hearts made of thunder Somewhere there's a soldier Sleeping in a field Somewhere there's a mother, a mother, a mother, a mother, a mother, a mother Please believe in gentle dreams The sweetness of people Whistling in their sleep The angels in your palm Sing gentle worried songs And the sweetness of our dreams Like mountains made of steam

Interview with CNNs Larry King Live Part 1 September 8, 2000 New York. Интервью ведущему телеканала Си-эн-эн Ларри Кингу 8 сентября 2000 года Нью-Йорк. LARRY KING, HOST: Good evening, and welcome to this special edition of LARRY KING LIVE. It's our honor to have as our special guest for the full hour here in New York at the Millennium Summit at the United Nations -- we're at our studios -- Vladimir Putin. Vladimir Putin is, of course, president of Russia. There's lots of things to talk about tonight. We thank him for coming, and welcome to the United States. What about this job so far, if anything, has surprised you? PRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN (through translator): I'd say I was much surprised prior to my presidency, since for a while I fulfilled the duties of the head of the Russian government. And in that capacity, I had to deal very frequently with the functions of the president himself. So nothing was exceptionally new. But the volume of my job has certainly increased. KING: Are you enjoying it? PUTIN (through translator): Partially, yes. KING: Let's get to the part that may not have been enjoyable. What can -- what happened? You tell me. What happened with the submarine? PUTIN (through translator): It sank. KING: But why? What caused it? What happened? What do we know? PUTIN (through translator): Unfortunately, today we cannot say much about the reasons of this tragedy. However, it's clear that the result of this tragedy were certain explosions. But we don't know what ...
