Film negatives to jpegs without film scanner

I have a scanner, but it's not capable of scanning film, so I searched around the internet looking for solutions. I came upon one site that mentioned getting jpgs from film negatives by using any digital camera. Intrigued and extremely skeptical, I decided to give it a shot. The results are shown in this video. For images that are difficult to color, I just use the "black & white" option and lower the blue tones. I also find messing with the color balance to help. More of these images can be found on my Flickr: www.flickr.com User comment: Hello ~ I noticed that when you clicked the auto levels function the blue tint completely disappeared! However, when I tried it on photoshop the blue tint pretty much remained present... Then I realised my problem! ~ You cut your picture out, whereas I inverted my image that contained the film sprockets. The film sprockets turned black with the invertion which in turn prevented auto levels from removing the blue tint since it treated black as a major color balance source!

Sticky Light - the smart laser scanner revisited

A laser spot bounces on a figure being drawn on paper, trying to escape the labyrinth of lines. There is no camera nor projector; this is an experience where the audience can touch and interact with a beam of pure light - and even play a pong game with bare hands. The quality of the laser light, and the fluidity of the motion makes for a very unique experience. The piece is based upon a 3d tracking technology developed earlier in our lab, using a laser diode, a pair of steering mirrors, and a single non-imaging photodetector called the "smart laser scanner". The controversial security devices use X-rays or millimeter wave technology to reveal what a passenger may be hiding underneath clothes. According to the Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, the full-body scanners "can detect both metallic and non-metallic items that may pose a threat to aviation security." The pictures are usually black and white or appear to look like a film negative. The TSA website says that 385 so-called "advanced imaging technology" machines are currently in use at nearly 70 airports nationwide. Reports say there are plans to add an additional 1000 such machines by the end of next year. Controversy surrounding such full body scanner images is on the rise, with a growing number of passengers, and according to CNN, pilots, "revolting." CNN reports that some "grassroots groups" are "urging travelers to either not fly or to protest by opting out of the full-body scanners." Any passenger that opts out of the full-body scan will undergo "enhanced" pat downs instead. In October of 2010, a pilot, Michael Roberts, "refused to submit" to a full-body scan and an enhanced pat down. According to CNN, Roberts is considering a lawsuit "challenging the constitutionality" of such procedures. Other legal briefs are challenging the full-body scanner program, claiming it is a ...

Scanner - From The Dust Of Ages

Scanner is a Heavy/Power Metal band from Germany that never gained the same success as bands like Helloween, Gamma Ray and Blind Guardian. In fact, not many people have heard of them, which is a shame, because they've released some pretty solid albums. This is their best song in my opinion and also one of my all time favorite songs. It's taken from their 1989 album "Terminal Earth", which I consider to be their best album. Lyrics: We're surrounded, there's no escape Landed on a world, attacked by gods who sent a storm Now the waters rise so unbelievably And vulcans spit a holy fire and destroy Spit it and destroy We traveled through the time To spread the human seed Wherever we've been seen We disappeared in mystery We came to see how people fight The Gods who sent eternal night We're the last We came to late to stop the stream of time Can it be a lack of pride, a lack of honor Can it be a plan that is divine Can in be a lack of pride, a lack of honor Can this be mistakes that are divine Welcome Reborn in another dimension Where unknown colors and noises are bringin' you tension Welcome Step through the halls of disaster Work till you bleed and obey your invisible master Missin' the moon in the night Finding yourself for a world of violet light Welcome home from the dust of ages Welcome home from the dust of time We don't know if we'll leave some traces The world that we've known disappears In the dust of time The world will end with surrender The civilization's destroyed ...
