Often referred to as one of the greatest American filmmakers (which he is), Martin Scorsese is amongst the most passionate and fearless directors working today. Why fearless? He's not afraid to try new things. His genres can range from a violent crime film like Goodfellas or Casino, to family oriented love letter to cinema like 'Hugo.' It's undeniable that Scorsese knows how to make a damn good film no matter what genre or style. With this installment of 'The Works' I tried to focus on the tonal range of Scorsese's feature films along with the recurring themes that surround them. Who's next? Warning: this video contains violence and strong language I guess this video goes on forever, so i won't be surprised if in a year there will be like a zero views. But who gives a sh*t ? XD Didn't you know that Chris Nolan is only my second favourite director? Yeah, you can be talented and creative, Chris, but Scorsese is classic. LOVE his movies, there is so much i can say about them, that there's not enough space here to do it. So if you interested in looking at my point of view on Martin's works, just watch the video, it all i can say. There's much less analogies between movies, than in my Nolan-video, i actually can say that i was trying to show how different Scorsese can be. But i just couldn't help myself, i'm a big fan of his gangster movies, so it's like 65% - Casino, Departed and Goodfellas, and 45% - is the rest. Thanks to deadline, weve just learned that Leonardo DiCaprio is attached to star in The Gambler, a paramount remake of the 1974 drama which was centered around James TObacks life, who happened to write the original screen play. William Monahan is writing the script and Martin Scorsese may just direct! The flick is about a gambling addict, which would be played by Leo who then onvinced a student athelete to shave points off a game so he can win a bet...after experiencing the high of winning a bet where he risks it all, the gambler finds himself in a very dark place! If all goes well, this wont be the first time leo and martin tream up. Theyeve worked together on many hits in the theatre including Shutter Island, The Departed, The Aviator and The Gangs of New York. www.davidlynchfoundation.org The David Lynch Foundation held its second annual "Change Begins Within" benefit gala in New York City on December 13, 2010, to raise funds to bring Transcendental Meditation to at-risk youth, veterans suffering with PTSD, and the homeless. Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese addressed the gala via video. Mr. Scorsese offered his support for David Lynch's initiative to bring Transcendental Meditation to "anyone who needs it." Mr. Scorsese also acknowledged that in the past he considered suffering to be an integral part of life—an integral part of the creative process. Now, since starting Transcendental Meditation, he admitted that suffering "may not be the way it's supposed to be." In the second part of this video, award-winning CNN political correspondent and news anchor Candy Crowley discusses the importance and need for veterans to get the support they need to deal with their trauma, and how studies on the effects of Transcendental Meditation in those suffering from PTSD offer "so much hope." She then introduces veteran Dan Burks, who we hear describe, with tears in his eyes, his experience of finally learning Transcendental Meditation and the "absolutely transformational" effect it had on his life.
