Self-Sustainable Chair

Self-Sustainable Chair, a dress made out of polyethylene, connected to shoes that pump air into an inflatable bubble attached to its rear part on each step. The dress slowly transforms into a chair with each step and holds the person to sit on it naturally. With his or her body weight the chair is slowly deflated and forms back to the original flat dress. Self-Sustainable chair is a conceptual garment that motivates users to consistently switch between walking and sitting as a loop behavior on the street. The balance between exercise and rest would be maintained by wearing this suit. The purpose of this project is to transform the humdrum experiences produced by routine walking commutes into an amusing interactive performance.

Seeds for Self Sufficiency: Biofuels in Rural Haiti

How do you develop an economy in a country with no energy resources except biomass? How can a tropical rainforest island country that has been 98% deforested begin to recovery their environment while feeding their citizens in a sustainable way? Kathleen Robbins has been working in Haiti since 2003 and lived there for 15 months. She works with People and Place's project Jatropha Pepinye to address these over the past three years. The goal of the Jatropha Pepinye is to engage a 1000 growers producing a million gallons of biodiesel/year on land that isn't suitable for food production. The internal market for biodiesel is immense, by Haitian standards, since all petroleum products in Haiti are imported. And while developing the capability to produce biodiesel, the entire value chain is being developed to maximize the economic impact and ensure sustainability. The Sustainability Technology Center at the University of Illinois has been providing continuing technical support for biodiesel production as well as support to maximize other products in the value chain."

Urban Homestead - Self Sufficiency Wrap Up w/ Jules Dervaes

To live as simply as possible, to live in harmony with nature. All things are possible to a certain extent. The modern technological world has made its people its subjects; it has made them ignorant and keeps them in ignorance. We are basically ignorant, ignorant of the basics–where does our food come from? Where does our water come from? And importantly, where do our wastes go? We live cut off from ourselves because of this lack-of-touch with the natural things. And our foundation is weakened, and there is no way we can build onto the self in such a state. So I must go back as far as I can. I must find out where to get water to drink. Can I afford to wait any longer to begin this back-track? Should I gather more accessories and build up a secure foothold first in this world? What do I need? I need only land and water–so I can live. Why do other people Want more, and why do other people want me to have more. I want less and less. If I am alive and learning, what more? I need to learn how to grow food. How long should I wait to do this? I am 25 1/2 Jules Dervaes Jr, 1973

[Runescape] Road to self sustainability ep. 3

Read for explanation: So this idea is almost identical to RuneShark's "from scratch" series. I didn't actually get the idea from him, I got it from max originally, but when I did some research into it, I find his videos :(. Therefore I give him all credit for this idea. For those of you who don't know how this works, I cannot buy ANYTHING from the grand exchange, EXCEPT SEEDS FOR FARMING (too much of a pain in the arse to get legit lol). I can use shops, but otherwise I have to make everything myself. So this is the second episode, where I work on mining, agility and I contradict myself a lot :) Also started taking screenshots of my last level of the session. I plan on doing Knight's sword next time, and I need 10 cooking and 15 smithing for that, and therefore fishing (for cooking) and possibly wc and fm. Please like if you enjoyed :) Love y'all. Adventures in Prepping Continue

As usual my wife sent the boys to do the chores of feeding and watering the animals. My sons, came back saying Daddy, Daddy come see this. Important lessons in self sustainability are learned best by doing. There were a litter of 13 but 5 seemed to have died and now we have 8. The mother over 400 lbs if not careful can kill them all with her weight. She may have made some mistakes but she is turning out to be a good mom. Yes I know about farrowing cages. No cages in the wild. This is an experiment and observation in life. Thanks for watching. Life is amazing isn't it?

Part 2: Project Juley - Hope through Education

Project Juley! is a long-term initiative to provide Ladakhi children a chance at a better life. When completed, up to 200 children of Ladakh (In the north-western part of India) will enjoy free education, food and lodging at the planned school and hostel, with no strings attached. Geshe Tsewang Dorje is an eminent Buddhist scholar and an experienced teacher and administrator. He has undertaken this personal responsibility to build Ngari Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, a learning centre with comprehensive facilities to house the underprivileged children of Ladakh and provide them with a well-rounded education. This project was endorsed by the Office of His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama in September 2008. After visiting Singapore in 2009, Geshela requested Lama Thubten Namdrol Dorje, founder and resident spiritual teacher of Thekchen Choling (Singapore), to help in this project. Upon understanding the needs of this project, Lama Dorje immediately instructed the community outreach arm of Thekchen Choling (Singapore) to aid in this project and named this Project Juley. Juley means 'Hello or Greetings' in local Ladakhi dialect. In June 2009, Lama Dorje graced the opening of Geshe-la's Jamtse Ling temple in Leh, the capital of Ladakh. During the trip, Lama Dorje and accompanying students were able to witness first-hand the difficult conditions of the Ladakhi villagers. What would improving UK food security mean for our hills?

Find out what the future might look like if Britain's hills were used to contribute towards self-sufficiency in food. What would the implications be if we were to put more sheep and cattle in the hills, and perhaps cultivate some areas for arable crops or biofuels? Based on interviews and focus groups with upland stakeholders, combined with outputs from process-based computational modelling, this film explores what this future might mean for us all. This film was made by the Rural Economy and Land Use programme's Sustainable Uplands project. For more information, visit: www.see.leeds.ac.uk/sustainableuplands

Sustainable Change - Outreach International

Outreach International believes the answer to bringing about an end to poverty is to create self-sufficiency--for people living in poverty to share ideas, so that when they look for solutions, they will see themselves. Sustainable solutions may begin with gifts from others. But they grow and thrive on the resources people discover in themselves. Outreach International is the catalyst that helps turn gifts into sustainable solutions.

UN - Agenda 21- Sustainable Development

This is discussion on the United Nations Agenda 21 on Sustainable Development from people how have read the 40 Chapter Book. It describes the treason members of our Government have committed. I was left silent for some time. Recently hackers exposed documented proof that global elitists have implented a plan of global Socialist enslavement of all mankind. We American Citizens are free men & women. Our inalienable rights are endowed upon us by our creator. They were given to us by God himself. They were NOT graciously afforded us by any man. Therefore, they can be taken by NO man. We hold these truths to be self evident that ALL men are created equal. If the elitist don't agree, then I have a rifle that says its so. Long live the Republic A young girl from Russia (Slovenia) recently moved me to emotion with a simple comment. She stated that the fate of the entire world, lies now in the hands of the real American People. The enemies of Life, Liberty, and Prosperity now mass at every gate...the price of which has always been the blood of free men and women of honor. Arm yourself, store food, and take steps towards self-sufficiency. The Reigns of these United States were seized from the most powerful empire the world had ever known by a mere 3% of the population. That blood of resistance still flows through our veins. Who will have the honor of writting our history? Freedom isn't free. Long Live the Republic.

HD Trailer Antimatter: The Future is Now

Watch Antimatter: The Future is Now HD Documentary in Full: vimeo.com This is a trailer for my documentary about antimatter, asteroid mining, space exploration, spacecraft, sustainability and self sufficiency. This documentary will make the case to sustain human civilization for infinite time. Todays world is very inefficient, toxic pollution is a big source of sickness and disease. Hemp products are safe, stronger, and last a lifetime. To say the world is on the wrong track, is an understatement of the highest order. I suggest researching everything and follow the science verifying the sources I provide. Hemp ethanol is a lot less energy intensive compared to the alternatives. New enzyme processes can harvest 1800 gallons of ethanol per acre. Half of the cars running in Brazil are running on ethanol made from sugarcane so don't say it can't be done, it already has and there is a plant that harvests a lot more ethanol. Also the hemp strains with moderate THC levels produce FAR more seed and ethanol per acre in comparison to the strain of hemp with low THC currently allowed by the canadian government. Hemp is the key to sustainability. Current fuels/ethanols, oils, plastics, and most products are toxic to the environment and human health. Hemp products are non-toxic and healthy for the planet. When food, fuels, plastics, fiber, medicine are grown locally energy consumption dramatically reduces. ------------ Sources ------------ The Astrophysical Journal Letters: THE ...

Our Daily bread- food storage, peak oil, economic collapse, Wheat

Short video showing hand harvesting and primitive processing of home grown wheat. Wheat is the "staff of life" and essential to your food storage. One of the "Basic 4" of Esther Dickey's "Passport to Survival" 1960's era food storage and preparedness book along with honey, dry milk and salt. We advocate a much more rounded food storage program, but these 4 components are still essential parts. Eventually in a long term disaster your storage food will run out. Having experience with growing grains will be essential to any survivalist or homesteader. Organic Farming: Can It Feed Us (Part 1)

VVH-TV News Special Organic Farming: Can It Feed Us? Part 1 Karl Grossman Chief Investigative Reporter examines Organic Farming on Eastern Long Island. What is organic farming? Organic farming can be defined as an approach to agriculture where the aim is to create integrated, humane, environmentally and economically sustainable agricultural production systems. Maximum reliance is placed on locally or farm-derived renewable resources and the management of self-regulating ecological and biological processes and interactions in order to provide acceptable levels of crop, livestock and human nutrition, protection from pests and diseases, and an appropriate return to the human and other resources employed. Reliance on external inputs, whether chemical or organic, is reduced as far as possible. In many European countries, organic agriculture is known as ecological agriculture, reflecting this reliance on ecosystem management rather than external inputs. The objective of sustainability lies at the heart of organic farming and is one of the major factors determining the acceptability or otherwise of specific production practices. The term 'sustainable' is used in its widest sense, to encompass not just conservation of non-renewable resources (soil, energy, minerals) but also issues of environmental, economic and social sustainability. The term 'organic' is best thought of as referring to the concept of the farm as an organism, in which all the component parts - the soil minerals ...
