This is a "quick" overview of the BLACKHAWK! SERPA Level 3 Light-Bearing holster, made to work with the BLACKHAWK! Xiphos NT weapon light. Keep in mind during this video, I'm good at a lot of stuff, but an expert at none :D My setup was purchased as a light/holster combo about 2.5 years ago from OpticsPlanet.com (purchased their many times, highly recommended). I believe the combo was on sale at the time for approximately $160USD, They are currently running a "sale" on the combo for around $170USD. They are available in Basketweave (shown poorly in the video), Plain, and Matte finishes. They are also available in the Level 2 retention style. Shown in the video is the standard low-ride mount, but a medium ride mount is also available. As far as I know, no high-ride mount is available. I have a slight problem depending on the seat design of particular vehicles, with the light bearing portion of the holster sticking down below my ass in a seated position and poking into the seat, making the entire belt ride up on my right side. I don't have that problem in police style vehicles (have driving crown vic, impala (new and old), and a Charger). The problem seems to persist in my Ford Expedition, however, since the sides of the bottom part of the seat are poofy and stick up. The SERPA System by Blackhawk is one of the most, if not the most, versatile system in holstering your pistol. It is compatible with virtually any load-out configuration one could want. This vid is in response to a question from californiaflash. This is more info about the BLACKHAWK Serpa quick disconnect system. I like and use this system for UOC (unloaded open carry) in CA. The biggest problem we face in CA when UOCing is GFSZ (gun free school zones). CA law states that 1000 feet from any K-12 grade school is a GFSZ. If I carry at a store or park, to get there I WILL pass through one of these GFSZ. So I drive with the gun in a FULLY enclosed LOCKED case. Once at my place of carry the PADDLE part of the system is already on my waist. Open the case and attach the gun holster to my belt. I like this system because the gun is ALWAYS HOLSTERD.
