"Hamlet" MOTIFS -- William Shakespeare's "Hamlet" ... from 60second Recap®

[ www.60secondHamlet.com ] Leave it to Shakespeare to write a play about ears. They're everywhere in "Hamlet." Hamlet's father is killed when Claudius pours poison in his ears. (Disgusting.) And the other characters in "Hamlet" can't stop talking about ears (or hearing) either. (Weird.) But listen up, because Shakespeare has a point to make. You'll find out just what that is when you watch this 60second Recap®.

[ www.60secondHamlet.com ] If your father had been murdered—the way Hamlet's was—you'd probably spend a lot of time thinking about death. And if there were people plotting to kill you—the way Hamlet's stepfather is—you'd also probably spend a lot of time wondering about what happens in the great hereafter. That's why one of Shakespeare's themes in "Hamlet" is the mystery of death. Does Hamlet solve the mystery? Watch this 60second Recap® ... and learn.

Hamlet (1964) - Grigori Kozintsev - Clip 1

www.mrbongo.com The surface of ceremonies and rituals celebrating the coronation of King Claudius (Mikhail Nazvanov) and his marriage to Hamlet's mother (Elza Radzina) leaves the young prince indifferent. Hamlet's melancholic nature finds no relief from his brooding, not even in his courtship of Ophelia (Anastasiya Vertinskaya). However, a nocturnal visit from his father's ghost changes everything. Claudius' treachery having been brought to light, Hamlet conducts a quest to avenge his father's death. Grigori Kozintsev's renowned Soviet production ranks among the finest adaptations of Shakespeare on film. His strong visual style places the characters on a rich widescreen canvas while preserving the inward dimension of Hamlet's character. Laurence Olivier, director and star of Hamlet, the Oscar-winning 1948 English production, praised Kozintsev's Hamlet, singling out Innokenty Smoktunevsky's performance as the definitive screen performance of the Prince of Denmark. A spectacle...a large, mobile, realistic rendering of the melodramatic action of the play that depends entirely for its impact upon its striking scenery, the physical sweep of its performance and the grand effects that the camera achieves -- New York Times Kozintsev has thought his interpretation right through to the end with complete consistency, and gives the film a genuinely exciting epic sweep...There's a genuine cinematic imagination at work here -- Time Out

Withnail and I - Hamlet Soliloquy

I have of late,--wherefore I know not,--lost all my mirth, and indeed, it goes so heavily with my disposition that this goodly frame, the earth, seems to me a sterile promontory; this most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o'erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire,--why, it appeareth nothing thing to me but a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours. What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason! how infinite in faculties! how like an angel! in apprehension, how like a god beauty of the world! the paragon of animals! And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me; no, nor woman neither. . .

Fodor's Hamlet

viewster.com - watch MORE free movies on http Shakespearean tragedy gets a surreal makeover courtesy of fledgling auteur Alexander Fodor, who instills the oft-told tale with a few startling twists. Focusing more on the supernatural aspects on the tale than the human elements, the film retains Shakespeare's original dialogue while changing the personalities and even genders of certain pivotal characters. In Fodor's version, feeble Polonius is transformed into treacherous femme fatale Polonia, who attempts to gain control of her sister Ophelia though the use of addictive drugs, and steer the vulnerable girl into a royal marriage.

The truth is: we don't know, but we suspect They're somewhere in those digits. And now I Will show why we don't know if we're correct. You see, we think the digits do behave As if they were a random sequence, and So many mathematicians tried to brave This question, but we still don't understand. Pi isn't random: each digit must be Exactly what the definition states. It's pseudo-random, far as we can see, But it's the subject of intense debates. Now I'll explain, with this parameter: It's all in iambic pentameter. You may have heard of this scenario: A thousand monkeys type at keyboards 'till They write the works of Shakespeare. Even though, In one life it's a task they can't fulfill. If you allow their kids to carry on, All through the generations working hard, They will evolve before they come upon A single sonnet written by the Bard. But still, the theory's sound! "To Be, or Not to Be" in Song (by Courtney Welbon)

So... I had to memorize Hamlet's "To Be or Not to Be" soliloquy (by William Shakespeare) for my AP English class and figured that it might be a bit easier to remember it with a melody. **NOTE** Just wanted to clarify that, yes, the melody does not reflect the content nor Hamlet's tone in the actual play. I saw that some listeners were very worried that I did not grasp this concept. Simply put, I needed a way to memorize the piece for a quiz solely based on memorization. As for the analysis quiz on this soliloquy, I got an A+ :) Thank you for listening! check out my band, Town! www.youtube.com/TOWNofficial and give us that thumbs up on Facebook :) www.facebook.com/TOWNofficial Special thanks to Mr. Meyers!
