Sharks

A video i put together using various shark pictures. If your terrified by sharks then don't watch, (but i did decide to leave out the pictures showing sharks attacking people) i mean this video isn't that scary but some people are frightened of sharks. Included are various snap-shots from the film Jaws. Please rate and comment. My seventh video.. REMEMBER- Shark attacks are very rare. Of the more then 350 shark species, about 80% are unable to hurt people or rarely encounter people- so theres no need to worry about going to the swimming pool- or going in the deep end, or thinking that a shark will somehow come out of your tap or up the plughole whilst your taking a bath- these only happen on very rare occasions. Whilst films like Jaws and Deep Blue Sea portray sharks as ferocious predators aggressively devouring innocent swimmers, nothing could be further from the truth. So don't have nightmares! (If you want to make a video response to this, feel free to do it, i've now put video responses as 'automatic').

450 pound Black Marlin eaten by shark

This 450 pound black marlin was caught off Cairns, Australia. After about 22 minutes it panicks and goes down deep, where the sharks live. Big mistake. At least we got to keep the Bill! As for the size, its the Captain who makes the call, not me. Barry Cross (skip) estimated it to be around 450lbs, so thats what i go with even though i might agree with some that its closer to 350 than 450. For a reference, at the end of the video when i'm holding the head, i'm 6'4". It might also be helpful to know that the boat is 65ft long and has a beam (width) of 17.5ft. Comments have been disabled after the Internet Trolls with no clue as to what game fishing is all about started dropping one liners. Educate yourself before you opinionize kids. Go to www.mvjoejoe.com for more info on the awesome boat! There is a professional DVD out with this footage on it, go to www.bransfords.com.au to buy.

Sharks in Deep Trouble

This is a promo from the award winning documentary Sharks in Deep Trouble by filmmaker and shark conservationist Lesley Rochat, also known as the Shark Warrior, which was broadcast on 50/50 in South Africa. Lesley goes out on a limb, single-handedly, to investigate both legal shark longlining and illegal shark finning off the coast of South Africa. Armed with her camera and the passion to make a difference, she boarded a shark longline vessel and captured disturbing, high quality footage of mass shark slaughter. In good journalistic style she uncovers that the threat to shark populations in South Africa lies with the local governments inadequate management and compliance of this resource. Though South Africa is a small contributor to the world slaughter of over 100 million sharks each year, Sharks in Deep Trouble is indicative of the global plight of sharks. General inertia of governments worldwide in taking responsibility for their natural resources is driving many fish species, including many shark species to extinction. Lesley is asking for support for a petition AfriOceans Conservatoin Alliance, a non profit organisation she founded, is running, which aims for improved protection for a number of shark species. PETITION FOR PROTECTION OF SOUTH AFRICA'S SHARKS Sharks remain a low conservation priority and many species are being driven to extension due to overfishing. South Africa is no exception: Of the over 200 different species of sharks found in South African waters ...

Whale Shark

The new, extended, HD version of this video is at www.youtube.com Thailand's Richelieu Rock is a "hot spot" for whale shark sightings and on 4th March 2005 I was lucky enough to capture the World's largest fish in all its glory. This female whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is missing the top of her tail and would be easy to identify again. The music is "Freefall Into The Blue" by Mark Ellison. I was diving with www.SantanaPhuket.com More Similan Islands videos on http Full transcript of the commentary: "At Thailand's Richelieu Rock, a whale shark makes a rare appearance. This is no whale but rather the world's largest fish. Whale sharks can grow up to 12m long, although unconfirmed reports circulate of giants of up to 18m long. This female is about the average size of 8m. There is little to match the awe inspired by an encounter with a whale shark, and for many divers this is the pinnacle of their underwater experience. Their 3000 tiny teeth are rarely used. When feeding they hold their mouths open and feed on plankton, fish eggs and small marine creatures. Ridges down the whale shark's back are reminiscent of those on leopard sharks' backs and like the leopard shark, the whale shark is harmless to humans. She has lost the top part of her tail, perhaps due to an attack by a predatory shark when she was a youngster, or possibly a collision with a boat's propeller. The shark's fins act like the ailerons on an aircraft's rudder and wings, helping steer it gracefully through the ...

Patrick Walsh - Filming Paul Damgaard - Avoiding Sharks Mouth CC - The Shark "On November 4th we had an incident that was pretty darned exciting. CC, or Cut Caudal, one of our regular sharks, accidentally ran into one of the main cages on the Searcher. CC came up nearly vertical about 20 feet away from the cage and grabbed one of the hang baits, which he is known to do on a regular basis. However, on this particular day he swam right into the portside cage's viewing window. As CC took the bait he instinctively rolled his eyes back, couldn't see where he was going and accidentally swam directly into the viewing window. CC's entire head went inside the cage and he was stopped just short of his pectoral fins. Well, we all know that white sharks have no reverse and CC was too far in to turn around. He tried to turn, but he could not quite get his snout to clear the corner. He rolled on his side and began to thrash up and down trying to free himself. Being a rather large white shark he just ended up making the opening bigger by simply removing the front of the cage so he could get out of the cage. CC literally removed all the lower front vertical bars and the horizontal bar that connects all of the vertical bars to the ...

Prehistoric shark captured on film

57th - Most Discussed (All Time) - Pets & Animals - Global Info-Copyright 2007 Reuters. Video- ITV News Wednesday January 24-2007 A species of shark rarely seen alive because its natural habitat is about 2000 feet under the sea was captured on film by staff at a Japanese marine park this week. The Awashima Marine Park in Shizuoka, south of Tokyo, was alerted by a fisherman at a nearby port on Sunday that he had spotted an odd-looking eel-like creature with a mouthful of needle-sharp teeth. Marine park staff caught the 5 foot (1.6 meter) long creature, which they identified as a female frilled shark, sometimes referred to as a "living fossil" because it is a primitive species that has changed little since prehistoric times. The shark appeared to be in poor condition when park staff moved it to a seawater pool where they filmed it swimming and opening its jaws. "We believe moving pictures of a live specimen are extremely rare," said an official at the park. "They live between 1968 and 3280 feet (600 and 1000 meters) under the water, which is deeper than humans can go." "We think it may have come close to the surface because it was sick, or else it was weakened because it was in shallow waters," the official said. Copyright 2007 Reuters.
