Iran v-ballers down Poland in FIVB W-Cup Iran's national volleyball team has gained another victory after upsetting the hitherto undefeated Polish team in the 2011 International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Men's World Cup. The European heavyweights fell victim to the Iranians' resilience and resolve on the first day of the second-round action after Iran twice came back from behind to win the game 3-2 at Japan's Osaka Central Gym on Thursday. The scintillating match saw its first set go Poland's way 25-23, but the Iranians drew level in the second set with a 28-26 scoreline. The Polish team reasserted itself in the third set after an overwhelming 25-8 win handed them their second, and last, set of the game. This, however, served as a wakeup call for the Iranians as they rallied to take the fourth set 26-24 and finished off Poland 15-11 in the fifth. Iran's Seyyed Mehdi Bazargard, who scored 15 points, was named the most impressive player of the match. Iran had already defeated European champions Serbia and tournament hosts Japan. The country's only defeat came before Cuba. The Iranians are due to line up against Argentina on Friday. "We are very happy with this victory because we beat a strong team. I told the players after the win over Serbia that we were looking for another surprise. Our players were good. We took the chance when we got it. Jedno z największych wydarzeń sportowych ostatnich lat. Polacy po raz pierwszy historii siatkówki męskiej zostają Mistrzami Europy. W Turcji (tam rozgrywały się mistrzostwa) nie przegrywając żadnego meczu i pokonując dwa razy świetnie dysponowanych wtedy Francuzów, udało nam się osiągnąć szczyt. Warto dodać, że graliśmy bez swoich dwóch najlepszych zawodników, Mariusza Włazłego i Michała Winiarskiego, których wykluczyły kontuzje. Mimo to nowy trener Daniel Castellani poprowadził swoich podopiecznych do historycznego triumfu.

Liderem przyjmujących i całego zespołu jest Bartosz Kurek. Przyjęcie i obrona to nasze największe atuty. Bartek łączy dwie ważne role - przyjęcia, gdzie daje sobie radę, i ataku, gdzie jest mocno obciążany, ale błyszczy. Bez niego drużyna jest bezsilna. Za te sześć meczów należy mu się mocna piątka, na szóstkę niech pracuje w finale. Michał Ruciak i Michał Kubiak są bliźniaczo podobni. Kubiak grał mniej, poczekajmy, jak poradzi sobie w dalszej części sezonu. Na razie podołał, jest silny psychicznie. Obaj to mocne punkty naszego zespołu, stawiam im 4+. Środkowi Grzegorz Kosok, Marcin Możdżonek i Piotr Nowakowski pokazują połowę tego, co potrafią. O ile w bloku wypełniają swoją rolę, w ataku w ogóle nie są zagrożeniem. Oczekuję od tej trójki więcej, wyróżniam Kosoka, wszyscy zasługują na od 3+ do 4-. Krzysztof Ignaczak to libero w pełni ukształtowany, mocny punkt zespołu, wyciąga piłki niemożliwe do obrony. Siatkówka: Jaki jest Anastasi?
sport.pl: Ryszard Bosek przyczynił się do sprowadzenia Andrei Anastasiego do Polski. - Znam go długo, wiem, że to doświadczony trener, który nigdy nie zatrzymuje się w swojej nauce i nigdy nie zadowala się tym, co już osiągnął. Z naszej kadry w krótkim czasie zrobił zespół, który miło oglądać. Z Danielem Castellanim ani Raulem Lozano nie warto go porównywać, bo Włoch koncentruje się na swojej pracy.
